"Ohio"
The Nonsensical Lyrics: Gotta get down to it,
Soldiers are gunning us down, Should have been done long ago ... Why They're Nonsensical: What? Soldiers should have been gunning us down long ago? Not really funny, I just cringe every time I hear it. I know how the lyric is intended, it just doesn't work this way.

| "Love The One You're With"
The Nonsensical Lyrics: But if you can't be with the one you love
Honey, love the one you're with Why They're Nonsensical: First off, these two lines completely contradict each other. Second, why should you have to fall in love with a complete stranger just because your spouse isn't around? (S)he could be an ax murderer, for all you know.

"Ohio"
The Lyrics: Tin soldiers and Nixon's coming
We're finally on our own This summer I hear the drumming Four dead in Ohio Why: "Ohio" by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young (written by Neil Young) has an upbeat tempo, but deals with a very unpleasant event in U.S. history. The song itself was released only three weeks after the event it refers to: The killing of four students during a protest (therefore using their Constitutional rights) at Kent State University in Ohio by National Guardsmen while the students were protesting President Nixon's plans to extend the Vietnam War into Cambodia on May 4, 1970.

"Helplessly Hoping"
The Lyrics: Helplessly hoping her harlequin hovers nearsby Awaiting a word Gasping at glimpses of gentle true spirit ... Wordlessly watching he waits by the window and wonders at the empty place inside Heartlessly helping himself to her bad dreams he worries ... Stand by the stairway you'll see something certain to tell you confusion has its cost Love isn't lying its loose in a lady who lingers saying she is lost
Why: The whole song is a mass of alliteration!
