The Lyrics

There are some monumental pieces of pop culture that I have yet to experience, usually do to a combination of a) not being alive when it was out b) it didn't air on a channel I had access to and c) lack of funds
My friends are talking about House, they are such fans
They ask me what I think and my face is a blank

I am forced to admit I haven't seen the show
In turn, they shake their heads, ashamed and then they go

My friends, they talk 'bout cars and how they go so fast
Degenerates into Ford versus Holden crap

Don't know why they're asking me, my knowledge isn't great
Except which ones transform into giant robots, mate

I see my friends talking 'bout how Janeway's a hack
They bicker back and forth, then me they try to ask

I've never seen more than internet reviews of Star Trek
Know some bits from TV Tropes and that Galaxy Quest

Somehow my friends can't see that I feel like a fool
Hate it when I can't mesh perfectly in the group

It's times like this when I feel especially dumb
My nerdiness has failed me once again, not fun

They bring up lots of things of which I'm not a fan
I may be a big dork, but Stargate? Don't know that

Greedo or Han shot first, I do not care, I don't
Don't know why I go back although I say I won't

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm

They keep talkin' bout Star Trek
Not a fan
Don't know why I feel so
Embarrassed since I know, it's all so pointless, guy
But they're still talkin' 'bout stuff
Of which
I am
Not a fan
Yeah

Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah

(repeat to fade)
Srsly, all I know about cars comes from Transformers. Especially when it comes to General Motors (which reminds me, Holden is an Aussie brand of car owned by GM, and Down Under, Ford vs. Holden is kind of a thing, but if you want to substitute Chevy I won't mind).

(Ages) It's especially hard to keep up with certain topics that are not of interest, even if friends are talking like crazy about that topic. It's like me when I go to college, at the time they talk about news and current events and I don't pay much attention to them due to the fact that most reporters I know make things controversial as they sound, but I ought to watch the news, really. But now I try to keep up with certain events, such as watch Grammys, or Superbowl, or the Oscars, so I could have some topics to converse with friends. Sometimes I make things up as I go a long I got to admit. Well, I'm not into House, or certain shows people talk about. I still watch shows viewed by teenagers, and bury myself in classic sitcoms I only grew up with. Well, I'm definitely a fan of yours and this satire! 555.

Current TV shows are one of my big areas of ignorance these days since I haven't had cable in about five years. Music, as well, since I don't listen to much besides my own collection (why keep buying new music when I already have so much good stuff to listen to?) But Star Trek, I know.

Ages...I'm with Porfle, in that I know very little about current TV shows...especially sitcoms. However...I try to know at least a little bit about a lot of things...so that I can fake it/hold my own in most conversations. ; ) Thought this was great... =)

p.s. Han shot first

There is a whole mess of things that I am out of the loop on...like did you know that Michael Jackson died!? Since when!? (Just kidding, nice work here. I like the topic and the pacing was spot on!)
