The Lyrics

From the Web: "Hildegard of Bingen (1098-1179) produced major works of theology and visionary writings. When few women were accorded respect, she was consulted by and advised bishops, popes, and kings. She is the first composer whose biography is known. She founded a vibrant convent, where her musical plays were performed. Although not yet canonized, Hildegard has been beatified, and is frequently referred to as St. Hildegard. Revival of interest in this extraordinary woman of the middle ages was initiated by musicologists and historians of science and religion. Less fortunately, Hildegard's visions and music had been hijacked by the New Age movement." She was German, so I've used German rhymes in four of the verses: Name (NAH-muh), name; Dame (DAH-muh), woman; Reklame (reh-KLAH-muh), ad; Same (SAH-muh), seed.
A nun composer wrote of God;
Von Bingen was her Name.
(Clap) B-I-N-G-E-N
(Clap) B-I-N-G-E-N
(Clap) B-I-N-G-E-N
(Clap) B-I-N-G-E-N
(Clap) B-I-N-G-E-N
Von Bingen was her Name.

Though she's female, priests gave the nod
To this mystical Dame.
(Clap) B-I-N-G-E-N
(Clap) B-I-N-G-E-N
(Clap) B-I-N-G-E-N
(Clap) B-I-N-G-E-N
(Clap) B-I-N-G-E-N
Von Bingen was her Name.

I'll put her oeuvre on my iPod--
That's a little Reklame.
(Clap) B-I-N-G-E-N
(Clap) B-I-N-G-E-N
(Clap) B-I-N-G-E-N
(Clap) B-I-N-G-E-N
(Clap) B-I-N-G-E-N
Von Bingen was her Name.

New-agers found her fertile sod
For planting sampled Same.
(Clap) B-I-N-G-E-N
(Clap) B-I-N-G-E-N
(Clap) B-I-N-G-E-N
(Clap) B-I-N-G-E-N
(Clap) B-I-N-G-E-N
Von Bingen was her Name.

I like the music of this broad--
Her monophonic drama.
(Clap) B-I-N-G-E-N
(Clap) B-I-N-G-E-N
(Clap) B-I-N-G-E-N
(Clap) B-I-N-G-E-N
(Clap) B-I-N-G-E-N
Von Bingen was her Name.

Sorry, but the pacing is just not there. Besides, we start clapping in the second verse. The claps replace the letters one by one, from beginning to end.

Not according to my Web search, but then, I'm only marginally familiar with the OS, so I'll defer to someone who knows it. Just trying to have some fun.

In the original, the first time around you go "B-I-N-G-O, B-I-N-G-O, B-I-N-G-O"; and the second time you clap over the B ("clap-I-N-G-O"); the third time you clap over the B and the I ("clap-clap-N-G-O"), and so forth. That's how I'm familiar with doing it, and I'm sure most everyone else who knows TOS is too.

Fives for this beatific buffoonery. But shame on you for giving such a noble woman the (Clap).

I always thought Hildegard was an interesting historical figure, and this parody certainly does her justice. Drei Funfs (or however you say it).
