The Lyrics

This parody concerns the farce at the Olympics, otherwise known as Australia's Women's Eights Rowing Team. Or does it concern the way the media have portayed it? Who would know? Rower Sally Robbins stopped rowing 500 metres from the finish, and dropped her oar 100 metres out, later claiming to be physically and emotionally spent. The same rower, dropping her oar in a similar manner, cost Australia what seemed certain victory in the world championships just two years ago. One team-mate alledgy threatened to throw her out of the boat. Another publicly criticised her in a television interview. AOC (Australian olympic Committee) Chairman John Coates calls a meeting to reprimand the team and voila! At a press conference today, the whole team states they are united and there is no animosity whatsoever towards Sally Robbins! Something smells fishy, and methinks it is not just the rowing venue of Schinias... As a country, Australia prides itself on it's ability to rise to the occasion in sport, against greater opposition who often make the mistake of underestimating us (England, are you listening? Heh heh). However, this little carry on rubs severely against the grain....How embarrassing!
Row, row, row your boat
Get up head of stream
At Olympics we row merrily
Chasing golden dreams

Eight women in boat
They are our top team
Lots of oars all pumping, verily
Finish line's upstream

With five other boats
Stroking by routine
Momen, momen, momentarily
Life will seem so mean

In back of the boat
Sally's gone, it seems
Wearily, wearily, wearily, wearily,
Pushed self to extreme

Throw Sal out of boat!
Team-mates vented spleens
Prim, orare, orare, orarily
Whole thing's so obscene

Don't go for her throat
Learn the word called 'team'
Temp, oremp, oremp, orarily
Makes me wanna scream

I don't watch the Olympics, but I'm sorry I missed THAT! LOL!! Nice work, Fussbudget!

I tried this one, but it didn't work. Yours does, nicely.

Well, I guess that evens out things. Remember that Oz guy who won a short track skating gold from far behind because everyone else fell in the last curve? :-)

Godd job! I especially like the wearily wearily line! :-D

As an expat Aussie living in London, this sort of behaviour really does us no favours...I'm a bit worried about the win-at-all-costs mentality that seems to be increasingly invading Oz society...btw, this was a super parody! 555

Thank you everybody. I would say the idea came to me on a flaming pie, but that's already been done.

I see the controversy continues now with some of the rest of the team privately complaining they were MADE to say everything was okay! What a surprise!

K1chyd : Surely you wouldn't deny Aus one little ol' Winter Medal now would ya? It wasn't our fault everyone else fell over! It was supreme tactics on our part to wait behind until the carnage had passed!

I see I have been visited by the infamous One Guy... There's someone that could do with being pushed from a boat!

This is great Fussy ! Embarrassment notwithstanding, it's refreshing to see a parody written about something that is relevant to us :-D

Naah, you deserve it, I just wish that the runners of my country wouldnt practise that tactice behind the Kenyans and the Ethiopians, its not as successful on more solid ground. :-)
