The Lyrics

I wanted something special to celebrate 300 parodies, so I kept back a trio that I liked for when I reached the milestone. Unfortunately, then I couldn't decide which one I liked best, so I'm posting all three.
When you go to a discotheque
Anywhere from San Francisco to C-
Roydon, you'll see what dolly-birds will do
And you might think it moronic,
Not to mention rather comic-
Al, to see them traipse off en masse to the loo
(it's rather funny)
There's no solo loner missions
And no single expeditions
But their motive seems more cryptic than the Sphinx
For when one goes to the loo
All her friends will go there too,
There'll be nobody left to guard the drinks

Why do they all go together when they go?
That is something I'd really like to know
This communal relievement,
Is it such an achievement?
Oh, why do they go together when they go?

Why do they all go together when they go?
All complaining that the queue is very slow
Can't they see what they're doing
Is *causing* all that queuing
And it may be their undoing when they go.

Why do they all wee together when they wee?
It seems really rather strange to me
A synchronised deposit
In that ladies' water closet
So why do they wee together when they wee?

Down by the Ladies' loo
There'll be a long, humungous queue...so

Why do they all piss together when they piss?
Does it give them some kind of feminine bliss?
With complete participation
In that female urination
Can it really be be that good not to miss?

Why do they wizz together when they wizz?
Maybe backup is what the reason is...
If you need to escape a
Cubicle that's out of paper
Maybe a friend next door is just the biz

Why do they take a leak together when they leak?
Is it something of which I shouldn't speak?
'Cause we blokes never whine al-
Though we can use a urinal
We don't need to stand there queueing for a week..

They will all go together off to visit the toilet
Go together, for if just one tarries I guess that that would spoil it

For they will all go together when they go.
Every Daisy, Sheila, Minnie, Dot and Flo
But could someone please explain to us
Why they all go simultaneous.
But they all go together
Yes they all go together,
Wonder why they go together when they go.

DKTOS, but since I knew what this one was about from you mentioning it yesterday, I was curious. It's a funny one! And, wouldn't you like to know what we do? lol

I had to read this because it is a parody of one of my old Tom Lehrer favorites. Good! Women are probably afraid to go to strange bathrooms alone because they think they might be assaulted.

*jaw drops to the floor* - very nice job parodying something I didn't expect ever would be. Have some fives.

Great job! Tom Lehrer would like this. Oh, and in answer to your question - it's the Universal Bladder Theory.

Must admit that this one comes in as one of my favourites of my parodies: I love the original, which tends to mean that either it needs a really good parody, or I won't submit it. I've even tried to keep to rhyming schemes like the "When you attend a funeral/It is sad to think that sooner o'l/ater those you love will do the same for you" at the start. The rhyming of "Discotheque" with "San Francisco to C-" was what kicked off the whole thing (though the "all go together when they go" idea had been around for a while). It's been a while since I played "We will all go together when we go", but I might try recording this...

Phil, I can help if you want. I have the piano part from "Tomfoolery", I can record it sans vocals and either send it to you as a wave file or send it email as mp3. If you want me to change keys, I can do it. Let me know.

That would be great, Rick: I think the original key's fine, if you could email an MP3 (if you use the email address from this page: http://wave.prohosting.com/philsdd/ it'll get through to me). Many thanks.

Phil, I input the piano part into my music program, I will listen again tomorrow and tweak it a little to fit your parody a little better.I'm pumping it through a Roland XV-88 into my recorder. From there, I burn a CD and convert to mp3 to send to you. I hope when you sing it, you don't have to do it all in one take. As you know from the original, it goes through five keys, several tempo changes and a few time signatures. You have to get the hang of the pauses. If you have a problem and need a change, I can do that. I can also make it into a variety of sounds that are not piano. It's in the computer. Expect it in a day or two. Also check out the parody you inspired tomorrow.

:-) Will have a look.. must admit, I've been scanning through your recent lot without commenting much (especially as most of the comments would be along the lines of "I don't know this song, either")...time has been against me of late.

PS - Rick: what music software do you use? My dad's recently taken to Sibelius like the proverbial duck to water: all he needs is something decent to render the MIDIs as sound - a SoundBlaster Live ain't really up to the job.
