The Lyrics

The WW2 British De Lisle Commando carbine was basically an Enfield action mated to a Thompson SMG barrel that was enclosed and fed .45 ACP ammo!!! It was purpose-built to take out German sentries for Commando operations. Model 1 had a wooden stock like the Enfield rifle, but Model 2 had a pistol grip and folding metal stock for better Commando usage. The Gestapo equally had a modular silenced SDK weapon for its operations and the Germans also used silencers on Lugers as well as suppressors for some MG-34s.
De Lisle Commando
silenced type

Enfield silenced weapon for use
Brits tryin’
For covert fightin’

Commandos wanted it
For Nazi showdowns
Weapon was deadly
Silenced rounds could take the Germans down

De Lisle Commando
silenced type
A sight

Commando
Commando
Commando
Was fully silenced-wow!
For those that dared
.45 ACP
Took sentries down

Can’t hear me
De Lisle Commando
silenced type
(silent, deadly)

Years ago I found a non-silenced replica of a DeLisle. Sold it way too cheap. Whoever built it left the chamber a bit too short to reliably feed the .45 cartridges. That could have been fixed. With proper handloads it would have been feasible to duplicate the sound signature without an expensive suppressor. In England, with its draconian gun laws, "moderators" as they are called there, can be sold with no restrictions, and are mandatory in many shooting situations. In the US they are prohibitively expensive and over regulated, as a result, the shooting sports are a major cause of hearing damage, and nuisance reports that get ranges shut down.

Patrick, anyone can MAKE a suppressor or silencer at home. Simple items like a plastic Coke bottle, wire mesh, modeling clay, and cotton... with some duct tape to mate... in my life, even as a kid, I have made a flamethrower, rocket launcher, gas grenade, and make-shift edged weapons. My dad was Intel and I began shooting at age 7. Best weapon I ever shot and favorite sniper was Erma SR-100 .338LM. Accurate up to 1600m!!! At the time in 1990s it cost $9000 US!!! Schmidt & Bender scope equally expensive. I only wish I could get my hands on an Abakan An-94 or updated AK-103.

Rob, you amaze me with all these diverse weapons. Did the British ever use the De Lisle in combat during the Second World War? The Gestapo weapon looks wicked too, but WHY would they ever have a need for a silenced weapon in their line of work???
