The Lyrics

We have been advised by politicians and health professionals to prevent a traditional feast day from becoming a super-spreader occasion. But it will be the 400th anniversary of a significant historical event, as well as the last one for some elderly or ill.
Oh_your safe space is home for the holidays'
"Cause it matters if far away you roam
When you dine with the turkey served on separate trays
For Thaksgiving day, you can't beat ho9me, sweet home

I met a family from Tennessee
They were headed for Pennsylvania, driving, too afraid to fly
From Pennsylvania, folks are travelling south to mix with ten, no more
From Atlantic to Pacific, size restrictions are horrific

Oh, you safe space is home for Thanksgiving day
'Cause it matters if far away you roam
Lest you want to be quarantined for fourteen days
For Thanksgiving day, you'd better stay at home

Neither bus nor a train nor a disinfected plane
Put your wife and children in the family car
For the danger that you bring when you make that doorbell ring
No mask should be sub~par

I met a family from Arkansas
They were headed for Indiana, driving, too afraid to fly
From Indiana, folks are travelling south for fixin's served outdoor
From New York to California, rules are baffling, I must warn ya

Oh, there's no place like home for Thanksgiving day
Please don't scatter so far away and roam
If you want to be snappy your remaining days
For Thanksgiving day, you'd best say safe at home
For all holidays, you can't beat home, sweet home

"Separate trays" implies social distancing.

Typos: in line 9, "you" should be "your"; in penultimate line, "say" should be "stay".

In line 3, changing "'Cause it matters" to "Virus splatters" clarifies the reason to stay at home.

Oops! I meant line 2 (and/or 10), not 3.

Perry Como sang “Put the wife and kiddies in the family car.” In 2020 PC, it’s “Join your heirs and partner in shared SUV.” Then I’d change “No mask should be sub-par” to “No face should be mask-free” to rhyme.

This lyricist has a nice sensibility to rhyme and meter. Also a good memory to reach back and remember that Perry Como sang “There’s no Place Like Home for the Holidays”. I found the song much fun; we need a little levity about now.
