Parody Song Title:

"I Am TVM Of A Song That's Fit For Parody"

Parody Written by:

Adam Eccleshall

The Lyrics

In honour of everyone who's ever taken on this OS.

Lead vocal: The OS

Chorus / repeat lines: Anyone who can get their head around the concept of a song doing the singing :-)
I am the very model of a song that's fit for parody
I've lots of tricky lyrics to a very catchy melody
I'm fit for any purpose, be it comical or malady
'though it can be a bugger when you're tackling my prosody

From authors poking fun at their impressive mistypography
Through pondering a gap within a parodist's discography
To voicing a desire to be a momma's boy forever more
And one about the skinny chicks with whom most guys would like to score

And one about the skinny chicks with whom most guys would like to score
And one about the skinny chicks with whom most guys would like to score
And one about the skinny chicks with whom most guys would like to, like to score

I've once or twice been used to tell of AmIRighters' ancestry
And also, on occasion, told of muddled up technology
With lots of tricky lyrics to a very catchy melody
I am the very model of a song that's fit for parody

With lots of tricky lyrics to a very catchy melody
It is the very model of a song that's fit for parody

I've coined inventive names for regions most consider personal
And covered famous types considered gen'rally ephemeral
I've verses to my credit for the Grand Home-maker General
And once I showed exactly why the author was electable

There's lonely geeky guys who are in public, quite dysfunctional
Who lap up all my lyrics on their fav'rite Rear Admiral
And songs relating history, there's one that waxes lyrical
On Enron fueled creation of new legislation, federal

On Enron fueled creation of new legislation, federal
On Enron fueled creation of new legislation, federal
On Enron fueled creation of new legislation, fede-federal

There's folk's who've spun their yarns on me of dwarven kin and wizardry
Another who indulges in some questionable alchemy
With lots of tricky lyrics to a very catchy melody
I am the very model of a song that's fit for parody

With lots of tricky lyrics to a very catchy melody
It is the very model of a song that's fit for parody

In fact, I now know why you rant 'gainst TV that's "reality"
And lots on modern gunnery, hang-on, I think that's really me
I'm sung about a moron acting pseudo-presidentially
Who seems to have a problem with the finer points of lit'racy

And Indiana's hero has cropped up within my repertoire
For telling of the Ring Wraiths you'll see that I am the best, by far
I've quite a reputation now, I'm thought a work of devilry
Because to finish me requires cunning lingual trickery

Because to finish it requires cunning lingual trickery
Because to finish it requires cunning lingual trickery
Because to finish it requires cunning lingual tricker-trickery

I think I've made my point, for all it should now be quite plain to see
There's very little you could say that couldn't be said via me
With lots of tricky lyrics to a very catchy melody
I am the very model of a song that's fit for parody

With lots of tricky lyrics to a very catchy melody
It is the very model of a song that's fit for parody
I wonder... can anyone pick out all of the references in here? :-)

This song well it is none too easy to parody in general,
but it doesn't seem to be problematic for Adam Eccleshall
And though easily noticed perhaps a tip that will help you all
Just make sure at least every line contains sixteen syllables!

I see mine (The Typo Song for short ), both of Leo Jay's which are excellent, your Amiright campaign song, Phil President's and Chemical songs, Tim's Alan Quatermain.. I'll leave some for the others. Oh yeah, 555+.

Oops, extra syllable in line 1. BTW, that was a rough draft I had for this song to help people that wanted to make a parody of this OS do so. This make what, 5 now Adam? Holy cow. A few ideas for anyone that wants to develop them:

The Sailor's Song: "I used to be a sailor and we curse a lot in general", The Criminal's Song: "I am the very model of a master-minded criminal" and the Crappy Music Song: "Well I find today's (or disco) music that it blows a lot in general"....
Phil Alexander - August 19, 2005 - Report this comment
What masterful research you've done, and set in verse so wittily
That reading it was so much fun (looking for mine, admittedly)
And so in comment set in rhyme and written rather hurriedly
I'll say this is a super Modern Major-Gen'ral parody

A clever comment parodying this song won't be left by me. Instead will be a couple of lines that I put together hastily I don't even know if those lines do match the original's pacing. Could somebody rate these four lines that were left by me? Oh, and I just noticed that Phil Alexander had a line similar to mine... oops! Oh well, I just love copying ppl's ideas... 5's from me.

Since both Red Ant and Phil have left their comments written down in verse
I think that, by all rights, I ought to feel obliged to do no worse
I would be lying if I said my ego didn't swell a bit
To read your funny reference to my tale of momma's melon tits
But still, I am objective, as I always am with parodies
(I have been known to rate my own with no more than a 3-3-3)
But this is well-paced , funny too, thus no less than all fives will do
It really did impress me, and that's no small feat in general!

I like the fact that you have mentioned George Bush's stupidity. You rendered other lyrics with such nicely-placed fluidity. But I did notice that one reference seems to be unfairly pulled. Why did you not make reference to the tragic Edmund Fitzgerald?
Dominic L. - August 19, 2005 - Report this comment
OK, how come my last comment wasn't spaced like the others?
Adam Eccleshall - August 21, 2005 - Report this comment
Thanks for reading this, guys...

There's enough verses in the comments to make a complete new parody... wonder how that would fare :-)

L -O -L! I L - M - A -O then I R - O - T - F - L
the need to honour this great OS has besmitten me as well
the song singing about itself is genius (unqualified)
and I too found the reference to mine tucked subtle-y inside
555

Very good parody, Adam. You are to be commended for working in "prosody," for your research and humor, and for making each line 16 syllables (as noted by Red Ant). But I gave you a 554 because, while all of the rhyming in the OS involves the last 3 syllables of each line, a lot of your rhyming only involved the last one or two syllables.

Very well done from your subject standpoint, Adam. Quite a challenge to carry through the whole thing. I'm pretty sure mine's referenced in there early on along with the 'LOTR'ingsy one and there are many others that I've not yet seen here. So thanks for the mention. It's definitely parody about parody which leaves it with a very 'inside' feel, but it's still clever and well-paced enough to warran 5s from me.

(SOTM) Oh, poot! This says what I was trying to say in my troopsofparodies parody... except yours includes wit, fine end-rhyming and suggested-rather-than-blatantly-named referencing. Great job. 555

(SOTM) Great one, Adam!! I enjoyed all the references, and noticed all the research, too. And funny besides!!

SOTM - I gotta do this song one day myself, I just gotta. :-)
Red Ant - September 24, 2005 - Report this comment
(SOTM) I generally stay away from "inside" parodies but having the song sing itself is a unique concept to me and you would have received 5s even without mentioning mine.

SOTM...well if this isn't a slam dunk, (while, at the same time, a slap in the face because I can't do the damned OS...=(...)...then I don't know what is...just FABulous, Adam...=) I L to the OVE this!!

(SOTM) Excellent. Loved the word usage and tricky rhyming.

Grrrreat job, Adam. Fave rhymes: mistypography/discography and repertoire/best by far. I can't begin to guess at all of your painstakingly assembled references, but "Indiana's hero" is Claude Prez, right? RIGHT? Either way, I love it.

I'll make a guess that the verse about skinny chicks refers to Rick Duncan's classic "Media Celebrity", one of the first parodies of this song I know of and still one of my all-time faves. But I could be wrong. Very very clever stuff; lots of great rhymes and very fun to read. Great job!

SOTM. Great insider parody. These parodies must write themselves, there is a new one every day. I just wish MINE would start writing itself :-(
A reader - April 24, 2008 - Report this comment
Great job. I have some very basic ideas, it is very catchy, but...I could never rhyme with all of the last 3 syllables. However, like Red Ant, I'll offer this if anyone wants to try... "I cannot stand that Wilhelm Klink, he thinks he can make general." It would be sung by General Burkhalter, who in the end reveals he's "not evil like he pretends to be" and is "working hard toward Allied victory." And that he "can't wait to see Colonel Hogan's look of sheer incredulity." And, an Allied chorus, perhaps saying that Hogan's proposal "bordered on insanity." (well, there's 2 syllables.) Even without rhyming the last 3 lines, though, it'll probably never get written by me with my lack of time, but like Red Ant and this song says, there are real possiblities.
