The Lyrics

I hesitated to use one of the most-parodied songs on amIright, but I had to submit this illegal brief to the U.S. Supreme Court in a timely manner for this week's oral arguments.
Male and female, snail- and e-mail,
Go together like a course down ski-trail.
This I tell you, brother:
You can't raise sons without their mother.

Love in marriage governed Tar Age,
But can Constitution span Fis-kar Age?
Ask the vocal gentry,
And they will say, "That's MM cent'ry."

Bis, gays, lesbians of late claim, "Fits anal fusion."
Wise guys find banned duel lonely, come to miss collusion.

Love and marriage (govern-ment's cage)
Flow together like a Morse Code mess-age.
Dad was bold with Mother;
His lance that stuns, with pants off buns,
Could plant wee wuns within his Other.

By "raise" in line 4, I meant "birth" not "rear"; maybe TOS's "have" is best left there.

Neat one. While I do not necessarily agree on everything you said, this one is a really nice one. Fives.

Snappy satire over a current top issue

Thanks, all c/v's. Dave W.: Did you notice line 10, where every syllable sounds like TOS?

Tenth time I've read this today and I Do lol everytime..I noticed the syllable sounds only after you mentioned it.....You must have had some fun writing this. To me, this is a perfect storm of a parody..A light whimsical melody, topical heated frustrations and last but not least'r - the rhymes to kick pun word keesters

Neat work, esp. your matching technique for a great old song. As for the issue, as a hetero with no more use for the marriage institution, I'm inclined to go with the flow for the purpose of political expediency and as a symbol of anti-discrimination. Still, my sister and her man have been together for 25 years and raised three kids without getting around to legally tying the knot. Back in the day we struggled for the right of de facto status. Interesting that it's not been an issue for heteros for a long time. You don't need a certificate to show commitment.

Interesting that even Bill O'Reilly has recently acknowledged that the biblical arguments against gay marriage don't wash in this day and age. To me, it's important because it's important to gays, like avoidance of the term 'boy' is important to American blacks, so some empathy is called for. More salient is what kind of parents these couples would make. It doesn't necessarily follow they should have one of each sex if they've got a range of supportive role models to learn from of either sex, as all children should. I've known homosexual males who would make far better parents than some mothers I've known.

What soapbox? Who, me? OK, as you wish.

It's interesting to hear the other side of this arguement. ;)
