Firstly, thank you for viewing, especially if you've also taken the time to score any, or leave comments. Secondly, I'm no singer, nor musician, so if you are, & want to do one of them, please send me your version & lots of royalties!
Often a band can announce their presence with a particularly good cover version made uniquely their own, before their own efforts get appreciated. It's clear also from the UK's last 2 Xmas no1's (2018+'19) the music buying public enjoy a little musical fun!
With that in mind, if you'd like me to write some alternative/parody lyrics for a project of yours, please email me: [email protected] ...& we'll work something out!
I otherwise won't bore you with who I am or what my day job is, other than I'm married (to Jo-Anne) with two daughters (Laura & Amy) who between them, have given us three grand daughters (Indianna, River & Delilah), & we currently live in Warwickshire, UK.
Parody writing has become an accidental hobby, inspired by Green Jelly's hilarious take on the Three Little Pigs (children's story) - a genuinely brilliant rock song in it's own right!
Some songs are neither a parody, nor have a serious subject matter, yet they're still brilliant in their own right. "Cheap Sunglasses" by ZZ Top, "I Drink Alone" by George Thorogood, "Boy Named Sue" by Johnny Cash & "My Ding-a-ling" by Chuck Berry are all great examples.
I seem to like an original song that rather lends itself to a parody. Sometimes, a certain amount of original lyrics, don't need too much changing to give the song a much funnier & completely different meaning.
I write like an impressionist performs their art - with respect for their subject, rather than ridicule. I genuinely like, even love these original songs (most of them!) For me, it's hard work. Like a motorcycle builder who starts with a donor bike (an original song) then following an idea, hammers away, shaping & moulding 'til there's eventually a finished product. The process can usually take an hour, even up to three. If I had any talent, I could knock these out in 20 minutes!
Even if these are the only 27 I ever write, I hope there's at least one you like! (It says 28 now, but "Bread Fan" appears twice because I've made apprx 14 changes since my original submission. I often make the odd change to my originals after submitting, but not usually enough to re-submit. In the case of "Bread Fan", I just had to re-submit the improved version!)
