Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

I used to not believe in ugly faces
thought everyone was beautiful
individualy
you were gonna meet me
at the shop down the street
some people said you were ugly, but I disbelieved...

then I saw your face
now I'm a believer
then you chased
me to down hell...
I'm in shock..
ooh, I'm a believer,
I can't endeavor one more day
of this pain

then I saw your face
now I'm a believer
I can't endeavor
one more day

what's the use of trying
to get away
I have that disturbing image
flashing through my brain........

now I'm a believer
I believe
oh yeah oh yeah
i'm screamin' screamin' screamin' oh yeah...

Emily, the original song was from the year two thousand and one, therefore you should have put it under 2000s. It was from the Shrek soundtrack. :D

Excuse me...PLEASE tell me you were kidding and really not THAT dumb. Either that, or you're about 10 years old and don't know any better. The Monkees did the original in the '60's. Duh.

I know that, but Smash Mouth's version was done in the 00s.

Try again. "I'm a Believer" was written by Neil Diamond.

Welcome to Music History 101. Yes, Neil Diamond wrote it and recorded it first. But the Monkees had the first hit with it, and with another Neil song, "A Little Bit Me, a Little Bit You." As for Smash Mouth, their version is OK. This is why the credits now read "Based on the performance by..." If Emily meant this to sound more like Smash Mouth's version, or if it's the only version she knows, then crediting them is fine. Under the old format, we'd be right to ridicule the choice. And isn't it better to use our powers of ridicule IN our songs, rather than AT the writers, at least for something as silly as this topic? Class dismissed. Oh, and, if I catch you two hobbits chewing gum in class again...
