The Lyrics

Here we have yet another example of the people who make the laws, and the people who break them, both being about equally wrong.
She had tried to get a visa
At the U.S. Embassy
'Cause her lover lived in Texas,
And she wanted to be free
But they took her hundred dollars
And said "Beaner girl, stay home!
We won't let you go to Texas,
You aren't going to leave Len."

There were seven Texas rangers
In the valley having fun
They were rounding up illegals
In the hot Del Rio sun
When the Minutemen made a phone call
Their work was quickly done
And seven Texas rangers
Took another "beaner" home

She went home and packed her luggage
Took a bus to Rio Grande
She prayed, "Mary please assist me,
I can't make it without my man."
And she thought the field was empty
And so she made the swim
But her figure soon was spotted
By the shameless Minutemen.

There were seven Texas rangers
In the valley having fun
They were rounding up illegals
In the hot Del Rio sun
When the Minutemen made a phone call
Their work was quickly done
And seven Texas rangers
Took another "beaner" home

There were seven Texas rangers (at the border)
In the valley having fun (oh I believe)
They were rounding up illegals (yeah they was)
In the hot Del Rio sun (ow, ow, ow)
When the Minutemen made a phone call (vigilantes!)
Their work was quickly done (real quick)
And seven Texas rangers
Took another "beaner" home

I hope Sammy Sosa doesn't make it eight. Oh, not those Texas Rangers.

Well alrighty then. . .hmm. . .well parody is great. . .my Cardinals won the World Series, of course they did that the year I was born too. . .the Rangers, well, they aren't the worst team:) good job-555

From a fellow Card's fan (they won my sophomore year in high school), thanks for the comments. Looking over my spoof, I realize I forgot to include the line, "And no, Walker wasn't one", which might have clarified which rangers I was referring to!---MM

Wow, Dave, you're even older than I am! Oh, wait, they won in '82. That's right. I lost 20 bucks betting on the Milwaukee Brewers. I've never made THAT mistake again!

Heavy! Leaves a dry desert taste in my mouth. 5s.

(SOTM) My only quibble is that (in spite of Duran Duran!) the correct pronunciation of Rio Grande is "Rio Gran-day", ruining your rhyme & pace scheme. Don't know if that was intentional. This was pretty good otherwise.

(SOTM) I thought this was good.

(SOTM) All that "beaner" talk has made me hungry for some chili. Nice job 555

So much fun it should be illegal, crossed the border of these 4 and made it into the 5s

(SOTM) My fuller comment now that I get it. . .sad sad sad--I misviewed beaner entirely "Took another "beaner" home" Anyhow. . .Now that I read it again with the new understanding. . .the thing is kinda sad, a great paced parody to a sad country song. . .too bad this isn't about the Texas Rangers:) Beaner, poor spaniards that get denied when they want to immigrate. . .hope that doesn't happen a few years from now when I attempt to immigrate to Canada.

One note -- it looks like "Leon", a city in central Mexico, goe rendered into "Le-rectangle" because I included the accent. Just like the copyright symbol somehow mutates into a question mark....... well, that's one of the little hassles of living in a country that speaks another language!----MM

I think new parodies that get submitted won't have the accent problem anymore... this was sent in right after the server move and before I figured out what needed to be done to solve the issue.

Brilliant. Extremely unfunny, but couldn't find it within me to mark down the humour 'cause it's so well written.

(ABC) hmm, don't know the OS but it didn't seem to matter - this reads well as a poem, and the pacing is nice and smooth - a very interesting parody Mike - not funny but oddly enjoyable - 555

(SOTM) I think I got lost a little south of the border but the rest of this works well. Good job.

SOTM - Where's Chuck Norris when you need him? I guess "Seven Texas Rangers" sounds better than "One", but it would have been quite funny if you could have worked in a Walker reference or two :)
