"Come On"

The Lyrics

As I understand, the original song was written as an evangelical plea from a newly converted Christian to his non-Christian significant other. The parody is a viable response, and it's inspired largely by Samuel P. Putnam's poem, "Why Don't He Lend a Hand?", which can probably be found by using any good search engine.
I know you think everything's different, everything's changed...
A plan for the present and then Heaven to gain.
But why do you seek to dwell in His midst
If He's all-good and still lets evil exist?

Come on, Baby, come on,
'Cause my love for you is real,
But I think as well as feel.
Come on, Baby, come on,
'Cause when I look and see,
Things aren't as good as they should be.

What is He doing when people perpetrate crime?
When children are starving, how is He spending His time?
Get off your knees, it's doing no good;
We'll have to do all by ourselves the work that He could.

Come on, Baby, come on,
'Cause my love for you is real,
But I think as well as feel.
Come on, Baby, come on,
'Cause when I look and see,
Things aren't as good as they should be.

I've loved you sincerely, and yes, I love you still,
So don't hit the road and then tell me that it's His will.
Weigh all the options and hopefully find
That you should consider the heart, but also the mind.

Come on, Baby, come on,
'Cause my love for you is real,
But I think as well as feel.
Come on, Baby, come on,
'Cause when I look and see,
Things aren't as good as they should be.

Come on, Baby, come on:
We'll think of selfish gain
When we've eliminated pain.
Come on, Baby, come on,
'Cause it's up to you and me
To make the world what it can be.

Come on...
