The Lyrics

We interrupt our regularly scheduled parody to bring you the following NYC mass transit strike coverage...
The strike is on, hit the streets
The subway's stopped, we are dead meat
And protest's loud, picket lines
Blood pressure's high, union will pay fines
'Cause the strike is on

Oh no, oh, no
Billion dollar surplus, but the workers feel they're screwed
Oh no, oh, no
(Toussaint isn't happy)
(Toussaint isn't happy)
(Toussaint isn't happy)
The strike is on, the strike is on, the strike is on
the strike is on Oh let's hit the streets, the strike is - on.

Oh no, oh, no
Seven million riders going to be late for work
Oh no, oh, no
(Shut up and start walking)
(Shut up and start walking)
(Shut up and start walking)
The strike is on, the strike is on, the strike is on
Oh let's hit the streets, the strike is - on.

The MTA is corrupt, they say
And the workers, want to be better paid
The only things, now on the tracks
They aren't trains, they are subway rats
And damn, it's cold

Oh no, oh, no
Greed versus corruption? New York City's standing still
Oh no, oh, no
(I'm telecommuting)
(I'm telecommuting)
(I'm telecommuting)
The strike is on, the strike is on, the strike is on

Let's hit the street
The strike is on, the strike is on, the strike is on
Yeah the strike is on
The heat is off

As a Resident of New York, I nearly went crazy trying to get to work this morning!

I'd laugh if I wasn't so cold from walking 6 miles to work, over the Williamsburg bridge, this morning with 10 degree wind chills. And all this so some folks making $65 grand a year to run our trains can retire at 55? Feh!

I'm glad to see someone did a parody about this. 555

Alvin, carol, thanks! 2LD4U, QC79: Good luck getting home, guys! Looks like the evening rush will be worse. And the stuff Bloomberg and Tuissant are saying sound rather foreboding as far as a quick resolution goes.

Funny, I hadn't heard the OS in a really long time...then what did i hear tonight at the gym? "The Heat Is On!" Makes you stop and go, "hmmm."
