The Lyrics

A team that's in blue, a team that's in white
Maybe a team in navy instead
I'll find some bleachers along the deck
At our old familiar school
Me and the fans, watching the race, mmm
A team that's in blue, a team that's in white
Their speed depends on their appetite
I'll go there for my pal athletes
At this collegiate swim meet

Things are real good with me these days
Found a good school, found a good college
Got some new friends, got classes to tend
And the YMCA is fine
Oh, canceled it awhile ago
You transferred, I did not know
He could ever swim so right
After so much time

You remember those days?
Hanging out in the Campus Town?
Bulkied-up hoodies, snazzy sneakers
Oh, you put those buds in your ears
Play the song about Catching The Waves
Lemon ice, hot lights
My sweet bromantic college nights

Kaitlyn and Jackson were the popular flaxens
And the king and the queen of the tie
Riding around with the car top down
And the air-horns loud
Or was more of a hit at the Chickling Diner
We never knew we could want
More than that out of life
Surely Kaitlyn and Jackson
Would always know how to win high

Kaitlyn and Jackson would still blow their klaxon
In the autumn of '024
When they found out their big meet
Will be at the start of October
Everyone said they should practice
"Kaitlyn you know that you're tough as a cactus"
And Jackson could never endure
To do those types of drills"
Oh but they were cheering
Kaitlyn and Jackson woohoo!

Well, they got up to Montclair
With their team all pumped in
And some car loads of parents and friends
A big gold trophy that they
Won with the help
They had trained for each season on ends
They started to fight
When the the rivalry was tight
And they just didn't count on the tears

Yeah, back and breast!

Well, they swam for a while in likely winning every mile
But it's always the same in the end
They both left the sport and as a matter of sort
But the remained the closest of friends
Then the queen and the king
Went right back to learning
And you can always go back there again

Kaitlyn and Jackson are blowing their klaxons
Since the autumn of '024
From the high to the low
To the end of their show
For the rest of their love
They couldn't go back to the Speedos
The best they could do
Was hang their tuxedos
I always knew they would
Both find a way to fly high
And that's all I heard about Kaitlyn and Jackson
Can't tell you more 'cause I told you the facts on
And here we are waving
Kaitlyn and Jackson goodbye

Team that's in blue, team that's in white
Whichever college you'll root for tonight
I'll see you and pick you out a seat
At this collegiate swim meet

Your focus on swimming is intriguing, to say the least. Are you a swimmer?
