The Lyrics

If you live in the New York Tri-State Area, Fox is on Channel 5, WNYW (formerly WABD and WNEW). Like anything owned by Rupert Murdoch, it's good for nothing except the occasional bit of sports, and not even always there.
What's the matter with remote controlling?
(Your TV's stuck on Channel 5!)
Maybe I should get a 9-volt batt'ry!
(Or you're stuck with this teenage jive!
Where have you been hiding out lately, honey?
This show became popular with Rupert Murdoch's money!)
Everybody's talkin' 'bout this new show, funny, but
it's not rock and roll, it's "Glee."

What's the matter with the show I'm watching?
(Can't you tell that it's crap from Fox!)
Maybe I should go and change the channel.
(Go and watch a show that doesn't suck!
Nowadays, you can't be too sentimental.
These songs were rock, now they're just sedimental.)
Not funk, not punk, great songs become junk.
It's not rock and roll, it's "Glee."

Oh, it doesn't matter what they say in the papers
'cause they're never gonna change their scene.
There's a new show in town, but you can't stand the sound
'cause it fills up the magazine
just for your average teen.

How about I pop a DVD
in from days of hippie shirts and pants?
(Well, you could really dig these 2010 fashions
if you just give them half a chance.)
Everyone on show is goofy as a jester.
I might soon start rooting for Sue Sylvester!
She's the bad guy, makes 'em cry, come on, Sue, don't be shy!
It's not rock and roll, it's "Glee!"

Don't cover BJ!

(instrumental break)

Oy...
What's the matter with these kids, they're singing?
(Don't you know that you're out of touch!)
I don't care if they are straight-A students!
(Mike, you're old, and you think too much!
Don't you know about this TV show, Mikey?)
Yeah, I know about it, makes me say, "Aw, crikey!"
It's the next phase, new wave, watch it? I ain't that brave!
It's not rock and roll, it's "Glee!"

(Everybody's talkin' 'bout this new show!)
Funny, no!
It's not rock and roll, it's "Glee!"

Oooo... Whoo!

Ain't it the truth? Faux News is Orwellian Fleet Street crap and it's quite sad to see the rock-n-roll hits we grew up with become such a pedestrian triviality. Rock-n-roll is FINALLY coming back to life and there are some good new bands around now but they mostly underground and/or overseas right now. Meanwhile we're supposed to hear Britney Spears desecrate the Joan Jett classic "I Love Rock-N-Roll", listen to Puff Daddy (or whatever he calls himself this week) or Rihanna plagiarize Police hits and such or watch those PYTs destroy good music on American Idol. There is some good new music you can hear for free on AOL and elsewhere online. You just have to look deeper. It ain't on Top 40 radio no more. Faux Sux. And to all those overchoriographed, sample- heavy, lip-synching rip-off artists (too many to list here) I merely quote what Rodney Dangerfield said to a party band in "Caddyshack": "and you, Ringo! START TAKING LESSONS!". Perfect parody. 555555555555555s all around. Bra-VO!
