Song Parodies -> "Nefarious"

Original Song Title:

"Aquarius"

Original Performer:

The Fifth Dimension

Parody Song Title:

"Nefarious"

Parody Written by:

Royce Miller

The Lyrics

When the moon shines over Boston
And democrats are foaming from their mouths
And Bill's hypocrisy delights the crowds
And Hillary gets up to grouse

This is the gathering of those so nefarious
Those so nefarious
Nefarious! Nefarious!

Taxing us would be their first step
Snivelling B.S. abounding
Full of half-truths and divisions
"One America" their vision?
That's a load of crap, not likely
Cause we are not commies, crikey!
Nefarious! Nefarious!

When Ted K stands up and gives a toast
And Kerry's speaking style is old and from the past
Their bull could fill this planet up
And movie stars complete the cast

This is the gathering of those so nefarious
Those so nefarious
Nefarious! Nefarious!

Taxing us would be their first step
Talk of unity abounding
Full of half-truths and divisions
"One America" their vision
That's a load of crap, not likely
Cause we are not commies, crikey!
Nefarious! Nefarious!

Let the b.s. reign, Let the b.s. reign
The b.s. weighs in
Let the b.s., let the b.s. reign
The b.s. weighs in
(repeat til exhaustion sets in)

Until Utopia arrives in America, may the Right always slam the Left, may the Left always slam the Right, and may we all give thanks each and every day for our precious Freedom of Speech! Royce, this is one wild and pumped-up political parody --- and as a parody of "Aquarius", it is well done.

I thought this was fine work, Royce. 5s. That said, even though I strongly disagree with the big govt / tax-and-spend/ redistribution of wealth / socialistic Democratic agenda, I'm probably going to plug my nose and vote for Kerry. The Republicans are big spenders, now, too, it turns out (war), and the deficits they are creating will have to be paid eventually with either higher taxes or (more likely) more paper dollars. The bankers win, and we lose, irregardless of who wins in November. But Kerry and his blue-bloods will undoubtedly do less damage to us overall than the Bush bunch.

Hey! I'm a blue-blood, too! I only SOUND like an escapee from Mayberry RFD.

Excellent work, and one I wish I had written. I vote all 5's

Jeez, I guess I would have to say that your perspective is just about TOTALLY different from mine. Royce, I just can't imagine anyone being able to use the word "Nefarious" in connection with current day politics and not attaching the name "Bush", "Dubyah", "Cheney" or just plain old "Republican" to it. The Dems certainly are not perfect but personally I'm real tired of Dubyah's lying to us and distorting virtually everything he talks about. Yeah, Cheney , too - maybe even more so with him. I don't know which of them is the "Born Liar" and which one was just a good learner. Outside of the politics, it looks to me like the pace doesn't work very well in the first verse - it seems good on just about everything after that. I'm not going to vote here because I cannot be objective due to my total dislike of Mr. Bush & Cronies - I couldn't give a "5" for pace when I think a whole verse is off, but I don't want to try and figure out a pace score because I might be too harsh here. Well, that's my 2 cents worth + cost-of-living increases and inflation.

Well, I kind of hope you're wrong, Royce... but I enjoyed the parody, nonetheless ;-)

All politicians are assholes, although it is a matter of degree. I'm for going after any of them, but the Bush crew of theocrats and crooks is particularly loathesome to me. So, congrats, Royce, for a pretty good parody and for taking a stand.

I just saw your new song and think it is great. Here is the answer you wanted about mu screen name. You wiill also find it as a comment on my Henry Clay Work update "Freedom Is Never Returned": Basically I came up with the screen name I use on the political forums I'm involved with and here at AmIRight for two reasons: The first is that the Eastern, Texas and and Arizona Coral Snakes are the only members of the family (Elapidae) that the Egyptian Cobra belongs to in the United States and I believe that the Egyptian Cobra is the snake that the Rod of Arron became in the Biblical book of Exodus due to a miricle of God. (This is one of the few parts of the Bible where a snake is depicted as a "good guy" so to speak instead of Satanic.) The second comes form Civil War history where it is said that a Coral Snake rather than a minie ball, revolver ball or grapeshot caused the first casualty of that war with his venom.
