The Lyrics

Surely you all gotta remember Steve Martin? Who could forget him? Who could not know him? Henceforth, this parody is based on his movie of the same name, "The Jerk" - So, here are some useful links to help you comment and/or vote. - King Tut at YouTube: http://youtu.be/wgTPH5y1-ZI - The Jerk Trailer: http://youtu.be/2l1iZkw6bUs
The Jerk (The Jerk)
Well, he’s Navin R. Johnson
He’d never thought he’d be (The Jerk)
Leaning how to dance
And become wealthy (The Jerk)

How’d you get so stupid? (Total Jerk)
You call that dog craphead
(Raised in Mississippi)
(Moved to Saint Louis, The Jerk)

(The Jerk) Now, if he’d known
That he wasn’t on vacation (Total Jerk)
He’d rejoice at the phone book
And he’d work at a gas station (The Jerk)

Created an invention (Total Jerk)
He built without intention
(Raised in Mississippi)
(Moved to Saint Louis, The Jerk)

Dancin’ for awhile (Dancing Jerk)
His parents love his style (Dumb Jerk)
Really makes him smile (Happy Jerk)
He’s acting juvenile

He lost his wealth to cross eyes (The Jerk)
(Jerk, Jerk, Jerk, Jerk)
He hates these cans!
(Jerk, Jerk, Jerk, Jerk)
Can I guess your weight?
(Jerk, Jerk, Jerk, Jerk)
They’re sellin’ out (The Jerk)

Now, in the end
You’ll think that he’s berserk
Family saved his money
Just to honor The Jerk (The Jerk)

He walked back home in despair (The Jerk)
Still in his underwear
(Raised in Mississippi)
(Moved to Saint Louis)
(Walked to Mississippi)
Then went back home to his mommy
The Jerk

Anyone that loves comedy, remembers "The Jerk"- "All I need is...."

Thanks Rob! Yes, I thought it a good idea to bring together a famous Steve Martin song, and a famous Steve Martin film together, into one parody! :-) Many thanks for you comment and vote. :-) -WCJ-

Great juxtaposition of two Steve Martin genres. I understand it is hard to rhyme Mississippi, but here are some suggestions: Moved in with a hippie Rodney Allen Rippy

Tim Hall: Thank you for your comment and vote! Yes, it was difficult to find a rhyme for the word Mississippi, but in a way, I never really tried to look for one, because I tried to stick as closely to the film as I could with this parody, plus I do not remember a hippie named Rodney Allen Rippy in the film at all, I have had this idea for quite some time, I just never have put it to use until now, this one is looking good enough for me to just maybe enter in the SOTM contest next month. ;-) -WCJ-

Great recap of the movie, although I saw bits and pieces of it. Steve Martin is a great actor. I love him in "Roxanne", Parenthood, and Planes, Trains, etc. "We know a guy who can really do a 'cool jerk'!" LOL!!! Sorry, can't get enough of that song.

Tim Hall: One thing I could have done, was to slang St. Louis, and call it St. " Loui' " or I could have called it "St. Louie" too, Too bad I didn't think of that when I was writing it, :-(, well, it's too late now, isn't it?

(SOTM) Why are there so many jerks on here this month? lol just kidding. I'm probably in the minority, but I have yet to see the movie. But Steve Martin is hilarious. This was hilarious and easy to follow. Hopefully, you didn't spoil anything in the movie. 555

Sadly I've never seen this Steve Martin movie before so I didn't get much of the parody. Although the beauty of parody a Steve Martin song with a topic of a Steve Martin movie is totally Bringing Down The House!

Matty, you owe it to yourself to watch The Jerk, maybe his best movie ever! Nice job Wild Child! I love the OS and obviously love the movie, great work!

I really should start into recording some of these parodies, so people could listen to how they would actually sound as real songs. ;-)

Great example of an "rags to riches to rags" story.

(SOTM) I also have not seen The Jerk, but then again, I haven't seen a lot of things. Still, for a parody about something I haven't seen, this was very good! 555 for you!
