Parody Song Title:

"Stuck With a Monster That's Blue"

Parody Written by:

Michael Pacholek

The Lyrics

The original was thought by many people to sound like Bob Dylan. Actually, the lead singer was Gerry Rafferty, who did "Baker Street" in 1978, five years after this original came out. Ah, the Seventies. Not a good time for a lot of things, but the only real decade for "Sesame Street" fans.
(instrumental opening)

Well, I don't know why I came here today.
Yeah, I told Elmo I don't wanna play.
I recall when Mr. Hooper was there.
But here come some guys from when I would care.

Grouch to the left of me.
Big Bird to the right.
Here I am
stuck with a monster that's blue!

Yes, I'm stuck with a monster that's blue.
That's his mood, you know, it's his color, too.
It's so hard to put a smile on his face
'cause the cookies are all gone from this place.

Grouch to the left of me.
Big Bird to the right.
Here I am
stuck with a monster that's blue!

Well, he started out with cookies
and proud that he's a well-fed man.
And his stomach's growlin' louder
throwin' his head back and yells
"Please! Gimme cookies!"

Trying to make sense of it all
with a bird who's over eight feet tall.
And poor Grover says, "I am so confused."
And then Herry, well, he don't look amused.

Grouch to the left of me.
Big Bird to the right.
Here I am
stuck with a monster that's blue!

Well, he started out with cookies
and proud that he's a well-fed man.
And his stomach's growlin' louder
throwin' his head back and yells
"Please! Gimme cookies!"

Well, I know now why I came here today.
I got stuff to make this guy feel okay.
Now the crumbs are goin' right through our lips.
And the two of us cash in chocolate chips.

Grouch to the left of me.
Big Bird to the right.
Here I am
stuffed with a monster that's blue!
Yes, I'm
stuffed with a monster that's blue!
Stuffed with a monster that's blue!
OK, if we're talking politics, Big Bird is much more likely to be to the left of me, and Oscar the Grouch to the right. Anyway, that's nine! Nine "Sesame Street" parodies I have written! Ah-ah-ah-ah! (Thunder)

Clever idea and several clever lines, like "cash in chocolate chips." But, Michael, are you accusing left-wing politicians of being yellow?

Ohhhh, John J, that comment was for the birds. Not to mention, "You sure have some imagination."
