The Lyrics

Thanks, Chuck.
Merry, very long run of parodies,
with a collegial core,
maestros of musical comedy
that produced a lot, then lots more.

We all had a ball
on many days,
with writers unpacking tunes many ways.

Sadly the site’s gonna be shut down,
after a run that was long and often strong.
Great crew, great crew—
by constructive critiques, authors fueled
to dissect, reassemble each song.
With much talent the site at times teemed…
so glad that the site by Chuck G. was dreamed.

That means:
Chuck G.’s the one
who got it done.
Song sprees were fun…
was a long run.

Learned how to love composing parody
thanks to the forum of Chucky G.

I stayed here
for most of the long haul.
But out had cleared
the collegial corps…
the site veered
toward cholerical sores.
I pined for the days of yore.

Time’s come, he’s packing it in,
the long-time parody and mondegreens maven.
Though we gotta leave, we ain’t gotta grieve—
he gave us a publishing haven.

When I came
to Takeoffs Square,
urge to merge
words and tunes
became a make-fun game.
Succumbed to blight, site wasn’t the same.

But despite that,
I soldiered on,
’cause from Chuck G. I got
a chance to pop off on some pop songs.
My thanks go
out there to Chuck, oh yeah.
Chuck G’s the one;
Chuck made it fun.
If Chuck should change his mind,
I’d be in
again for fun
But if it’s done:
a great run,
Chucky G.
