The Lyrics

The conclusion to this comedic epic parody of Meat Loaf using "I Would Do Anything For Love" in the Dr. Pepper commercials. But suppose they went straight to Meat Loaf for permission to use the song, rather than songwriter Jim Steinman, who actually wrote the songs for the classic Bat Out of Hell albums. Jim Steinman takes Dr. Pepper to court in this hilarious parody.
**Jim Steinman singing**
Lawyers are screaming and subpoenas are written
Please cough up my money tonight
I'm a man named Jim Steinman and I wrote all these songs
And you are using them in ads
When car commercials air, I will hear "...The Dashboard Light"
Don't like Dr. Pepper with my Meat
Cease and Decist the use of my songs that you are using
Did not ask me for permission
Got Meat Loaf's instead
He don't own all the rights to these songs

Oh Baby, I'm the only one in this whole world who would
write such a song
And whatever song you will ever get OK'd
There'll always be a copyright
But the songwriter's first
And not the singer who sang
Before the final crack of dawn
I sure hope you come up with most of the money you owe me
When it's over you know
You'll be homeless and broke

I will take you to court
'Cause you infringed the copyright
With the Dr. Pepper
I will take you to court if you use my songs
I will take you to court if you use my songs in any more ads
But when the lawyer comes
You must shut it down
Go out of business now
Now me and Meat Loaf are not partners no longer
There'll be no third "Bat Out of Hell"

I'm gonna hit the highway like a battering ram
In a little black Malibu
When attorneys jump in and the engine is hungry
You are all about to see the docs
Saying every reason why it's illegal
All you dudes are stealing my songs
Without my AOK
And Marvin Lee Aday
Contributes nothing to these songs
'Cept his voice that he's damned if he never gets out
And maybe he's damned if he do
You could alter every beat, but that don't change the fact
You know I'd rather be dead than see
Dumb commercials that use these songs, you oughta be damned
Ditching me for legal clearance
Yeah, you're going to court, you know you're going to court
Goin' to court, you know you're goin' to court
Yeah, you're going to court, you know you're going to court
Ditching me for legal clearance
Ditching me for legal clearance
Ditching me for legal clearance, (bleep) you!

Oh Baby, I'm the only one in this whole world who would
write such a song
And whatever song you will ever get OK'd
There'll always be a copyright
But the songwriter's first
And not the singer who sang
Before the final crack of dawn
I sure hope you come up with most of the money you owe me
When it's over you know
You'll be homeless and broke

I will take you to court
If you use my songs in any more ads
With the Dr. Pepper
I will take you to court if I don't get dough
I will take you to court if you use my songs in any more ads
But when the judge decides
You must cut it out
You'll find another song
And ask the songwriter for all the permission
Don't go to the singer for that

Can't you see Meat Loaf didn't write the song
Marvin Lee can barely even carry a note
But he sings the songs just as if he did
No one's gonna stop me now
Even if the case is dismissed
But I can't stop thinking of you
You will never see the light of day when I am through with you
You'll get new jobs 'cause Dr. Pepper will not exist

When I'm dying dehydration on a beach in the blazing sun
Dr. Pepper will not be the soda for me
And I think somebody somewhere must be breaking the law
That soda pop smells just like a fart
You're fired
You are under arrest now
A crime you commit
I will take you to court
When I'm dying dehydration on a beach in the blazing sun
Dr. Pepper will not be the soda for me
And I think somebody somewhere must be breaking the law
That soda pop smells just like a fart
You're fired
You're fired
You infringed on this world's great copyright laws
I will take you to court
I will take you to court
I will take you to court
I will take you to court
I will take you to court
I will take you to court
