The Lyrics

Here is it! With this one, I complete my amiright Big Seven attempt. Over the last seven Mondays (six weeks and a day), I've stretched my parody muscles to the limit and hope that my "pledgeship" is now finished. I've used as a resource the recorded version on Youtube and the words as posted on metrolyrics.com. There are some contradictions. I also am curious - please enlighten me if you can. How many amiwriters have completed at least one take on each of the Seven? I'm sure that it has to be a very illustrious roster...at least until now! ;D

Did this song for spite!
My take on the last - hard Seven Songs on amiright.
Did this song for spite!
Worked hard on this one - straight through another sleepless night.
Did this song for spite!
Don't want a hack job - must be original, not trite.
Did this song for spite!

I am sweating - fretting - hoping that I'm getting - every beat and rhyme in place.
Ev'ry trick in my shtick - as I'm making myself sick - with this wild Big Seven chase.
It's a mother like no other - this one's murder, brother - so I am wondering why
That I'm working on this song - so long that it's wrong.
What persuaded me - that I should try?

(Instrumental Break)

What persuaded me - that I should try?
And so I...
Did this song for spite!
Stayed up for so long - my wifey started a big fight.
Did this song for spite!
All this just to make - another splash here on this site.
Did this song for spite!
Alone, no trombone - and I sure hope I got it right.
Did this song for spite!
Good grief! No relief - to spare me from this awful plight!

(Instrumental Break)

More bellicose fighter - than a true amiwriter - I gave the Seven a crack.
It's a massive undertaking - and quite a chore - so I can stand out from the pack.
Now Old Man Ribber - who used to be an ad-lib-ber - is checking his works for mistakes.
His critics all are dissing - as they're moaning and they're p*ssing - 'cause they don't want to give him some breaks!

(Instrumental break)

'Cause they don't want to give him some breaks!
That's why I...
Did this song for spite!
Fired up and resolved - that this time I will not take flight.
Did this song for spite!

I got tired but I never gave gave up,
I'm gonna score for amiright,
And maybe then I'll say good night.

(Guitar solo)

For writers - here's where the fun is!
We're writers - each one a pun whiz!
And it's only seven - thank the Lord it's not eleven - or twelve.
Yes writers - here's where the fun is!

(Instrumental break - which includes the clever quotation of Chopsticks)

This lone stag uber-wag - puffy windbag with no tag - labored night and day.
Said "No shame within the game.If it's lame than I'm to blame. I hope it will be O.K.!"
'Though I'm not dense I am tense - I'm hoping that you'll show good sense - scoring this final shot,
As this worn down old clown - is giving up nights on the town - for plaudits he never got.

(Instrumental break)

Yes I gave up nights on the town.
And so I...
Did this song for spite.
My take on the last - hard Seven Songs on amiright.
Did this song for spite!
My take on the last - hard Seven Songs on amiright.

(Contrapuntal section - Repeat the last two lines over and over while this following section is sung)

Dear site cohorts - all sorts - all of you are good sports - you should take this challenge too.
'Though it's tough and it's rough - it will help you with your stuff - yes it just might improve you.
You'll be wiser if you try sir - bite with your incisor - if you can give up the sleep.
For your skills will be growing - this I am knowing - 'cause it happens when you dig deep.
And Todd though he's quite odd - wouldn't do this song slipshod - he tried hard on this parody.
And you site peeps are sure not creeps - come and take you blind leaps - they'll be no weeps - you'll do good as me.
The Seven are finished - I've emerged undiminished - I feel you'll do as well
For these Seven can be mastered - if you've the time...

(End of contrapuntal section)

You'll emerge with the feeling sublime.
Just do the Seven - it's no crime!

Final observations: This is the first major undertaking that I've EVER completed on schedule. Aside from some irritating and undeserved one bombing at the beginning, most have been well-received. Yes, we had a dispute over Major General, but I'm not about to redo it! NONE of these were easy, but Blinded By The Light is certainly the most demanding. If I remain healthy, maybe a Seven Set each year would be a worthy goal. Other songs that might be interesting to attempt are We Didn't Start The Fire, Life Is A Rock But The Radio Rolled Me, and anything you may suggest. Thanks for being my friends...open bar on me!! ;D

My hat's off to you, OMR. I'd even take my hair off, if I wore a toupee. You've certainly knuckled and knocked out a huge toughie, here. Great rhyming work, and it reads as smooth as butter on springs. I've never done this...hashing over some ideas, and have a stanza or two finished, is all. Again, let me say, great goin'!

Very clever way to complete this OS for the big 7, OMR!!! Must have been a real "boulder on your shoulder...." LOL!

Well, "Seinfeld" taught us that spite is not a good enough reason. Adulation, now that's a good reason!

This original song doesn't bother me, but as a parody target, it was the toughest of the big 7, actually its the only Big 7 that I actually thought was deserving of such a title. . .good job

Fantastic job on a REALLY hard one to parody, as I discovered the one time I tried it. I've taken at least one crack at all 7.

Oh and to answer the question, you probably know of my two takes on American Pie. But that's all so far...may try my luck soon on the Big 7, but for now, I'm good lol.
