The Lyrics

A low-bitrate mp3 of the song can be found here.
Left from Maine with the aim for to rove on to New Orleans
'Til my ol’ Chevrolet strained, then gave up the ghost again
Just off Interstate 65’s where it suffered stuffed up power drive
I looked through rain for refuge to dwell
It’s for the grime I remember that hotel

This night abode in hickseed town
With all the bedbugs stingin’
This night abode in hickseed town
And folks primieval were singin'
They went, “Hee Haw, Hee Haw, Hee Haw...
Hee Haw, Hee Haw, Hee Haw, Hee Haw Haw”

Plaque in a dive in Tennessee
Chuck Daniel-esque seemed to be:
"Welcome, lest you be
Northerners, then best leave”
Now I need swift mechanic, good
But I got scared ‘cus he misunderstood
He spat thru his teeth, said “We’ve got Chet
But he’s more clever than hasty so don’t you fret”

A plight: remote ol’ hickseed town
With all the porch chairs swingin'
A fortnight bode in hickseed town
All o’er saw freaky offspring an’
They went, "Maw, Paw, Maw, Paw, Maw, Paw...
Maw, Paw, Maw, Paw, Maw, Paw, Maw, Paw, Maw”

Blue-fly swatter before me, tried to work game plan
I’m sure they rather abhor me, ‘cus I’m no rebel man
I try avoid Rayleens, Cloyds and Raifs
‘Cus this Yankee’s ‘fraid this vil’s unsafe
I swear by the kudzu ‘neath my feet
I ingested polecat soup at the local Eats

Fortnight abode in hickseed town
Deliv’rance hell upspringin’
Fortnight abode in hickseed town
And all the baccy went wingin’
It went, "Chaw, chaw, chaw, chaw, chaw, chaw...
Chaw, chaw, chaw, chaw, chaw, chaw, chaw, chaw, chaw”

DELIVERANCE -FINALLY - Excellent on the redneck battle between North & South in the US. You two have captured this rivalry most brilliantly, Amazing insight into a whole lot of Americana on your part Pip and I'm sure Merry kept you straight on the"ins and outs" of traspassing upon the US redneck scene. This number is so completly hilarious. And Chet for the mechanic is perfect. Jeff Foxworthy could learn a lesson or two from this amazing satire.

This parody reminds me of a movie called "The War" starring Kevin Costner in a 1994 movie about a guy returning to his family in hicktown Mississippi from the Vietnam War in 1970 war torn United States. The movie is filled with 1970 era music starting out with CCR's number of "Who'll Stop The Rain" in a scene with a 12 year old girl driving a 20 year old pick up truck along a mud Mississippi road. This moive is well worth the time to watch and this parody captures the spirit of that movie so completely. Way to go you two. Thanks for making my day! This is extreme parody!

Hilarious!!! I can relate. Guy - I'm from the same country as Peregrin and I'm betting he would've drawn from experience ;)
