Parody Song Title:

"Zhivago"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

Just a movie review, based on Graham Nash's biggest hit.
So you suffer from insomnia
And you want a handy cure
Just go rent Dr Zhivago
For a nap
It's a least two hundred minutes
It's a tough flick to endure
Just go rent Dr. Zhivago
It's a boring piece of crap

You can gaze at snow
Eyes all glazed at snow
You'll really
Hate the theme song

Revolutions, sappy romance
The old U.S.S.R.
When you watch Dr. Zhivago's
"Epic" tale
Plot that needs "esplainin'"
And just what the heck's a "Tzar"?
When I watched Dr. Zhivago
Wished the trains would all derail

You will hate this film (Yes, you will loathe this film)
You'll berate this film (One-star rate this film)
It's dying (Just like old Omar Sharif)
You're crying (Even has Julie Christie)
It's dying (Rubber nose Alec Guinness)
You're crying (Big long hist'ry lesson, who needs it?)
Boy is this a bore!

Borrowed from the library
Can't wait to take it back
I don't want Dr. Zhivago
On my street
Gonna try and hide it
In the bottom of the stack
Or I'll take Dr. Zhivago
Out and use it for a skeet

You will hate this film (Yes, you will loathe this film)
You'll berate this film (One-star rate this film)
It's dying (Wish you could shoot the Sharif)
You're crying (Even has Julie Christie)
It's dying (Rubber nose Alec Guinness)
You're crying (Big long hist'ry lesson, who needs it?)
Boy is this a bore!

Stuck with these now.

Fives, Comrade.

Thanks Michael. You don't really need to know the movie to understand the review. I just liked the word matchups. This song was on Graham Nash's first solo album "Songs for Beginners". I guess he used that title because all the songs are very easy to play.

DKTOS, Rick. I hope that's not what you really feel about this movie. Good read, anyway.

Great parody of a great song, Rick!

Actually, Adagio, the worst film I ever saw that got good reviews and had respected people involved was "The Conversation". Mari said I should see it because it involved a recording. Holy cow! So did "Blow Out" and I found that far more entertaining. We still joke about that. Whenever she goes to rent a movie, I make sure to tell her to not to bring home "The Conversation". Zhivago was a masterpiece by comparison.

Rick, I love Dr. Z but I also love this parody. This reminds me of a movie I saw when I was a kid on the late afternoon TV movie (remember them?). It was the worst, most boring piece of crap I had ever seen. It was one of those "there are only three channels and the other two suck worse" deals. Anyway, for years I told people about this yawner whenever the subject of bad movies came up. When I grew up I watched it again and loved it. The reason I watched it again was because everyone was raving about it. It was a boring old B&W movie that the American Film Institue calls the best movie ever made: "Citizen Kane." :D 555 on this one.

Stray, one of my most embarrasing moment happened while viewing "Citizen Kane" for a class. I had never seen it before, and all these film buffs were intently watching it. Being the heckler I am, I made a silly guess about the movie's big secret and said out loud, "I'll bet Rosebud is that stupid sled". Every eye in the place was now glaring at me. My son does that now, even as a little kid, he knew what was going to happen next in a movie.

LOL! Rick there is nothing more annoying than a person who is smarter than the "experts" - at least to the experts!!! Great story!

'Dr. Zhivago' was always on at Christmas, along with 'The Great Escape' and 'The Sound Of Music'! ITV did a serialization/remake and all I thought was - why had they got Frankie Muniz from 'Malcolm In The Middle' to play the young doc? Russian history was never that big with me, even in my Rush phase when I started buying Ayn Rand books (the author was Russian originally and defected to America).

Great movie...but you are right, they play that damned theme on the balalaikas WAAaaaaaaay too much. 555.

Very nice job handling yet another lame-ass piece of tripe that's supposed to be a 'film classic'. Julie Christie's hot, though.

(ABC-Z) I saw the movie and wished for the book hoping it might be better. I read the book and thank God for this parody. It's way over the top of both. Movie should be rated ZZZ. Parody hoever is a triple 5.

You could almost do the same subject to "Long, long, long" by the Beatles, couldn't you? Interesting, though I have to admit I DKTOS
