The Lyrics

Well, you can tell by the way I watch the clock
I don't love my job, but that's no shock
Cubicle and stupid boss; got lots of complaints
Ain't at a loss
Today, it's all right; it's friday
Can see the weekend come my way
Getting started on my plan
To cram in as much as I can

Whether you're a preacher
Or whether you're a teacher
It's quarter to five, quarter to five
Hear the clock a-tickin'
And hear your own pulse quicken
Cause it's quarter to five, quarter to five
Yes, yes, yes, yes quarter to five quarter to five
Yes, yes, yes, yes quarter to five

Well now, I pack up and I sit down
And I just try to avoid the boss's frown
Got some retro-rockets in my shoes
I got two days off and nothing to lose
Today it's all right; it's friday
This week I really earned my pay
Got to try to beat traffic
Now overtime would make me sick

Whether you're a baker
Or whether you're a shaker
It's quarter to five, quarter to five
Feel your heart a-beatin'
Anxiety retreatin'
Cause it's quarter to five, quarter to five
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah it's quarter to five,
Quarter to five
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah quarter to five

Job goin' nowhere, somebody shoot me
Somebody shoot me, please
Boss is a moron, somebody save me
Somebody save me at quarter to five

Now I can tell by the way my boss will talk
He's got work for me; won't let me walk
Caught my eye; he's headin' here
Might just have to wait on that cold beer
Man, it's not right; not today
Like he don't know that it's friday
Hope he tries to understand
That he wont' get my helping hand

Whether you're a hooker
Or whether you're a looker
At quarter to five, quarter to five
Your boss can't start bustin', not when you've begun lustin'
Cause it's quarter to five, quarter to five
Damn, damn, damn, damn, it's quarter to five
Quarter to five
No, no, no, no it's quarter to five

Job goin' nowhere, somebody shoot me
Somebody shoot me, please
Boss is a moron, somebody save me
Somebody save me at quarter to five

(AMiright Idol) Great parody execution here. Made me think of "5 O'Clock World" on The Drew Carey Show. Every chorus change perfect.

(Idol) Wow, that was hilarious. Though I think 'hookers' probably are off until 5 on Fridays rather than getting off . . .bad choice of wording. . .just really well done. Fun rhyme scheme, topic that people can relate to, and a hit OS-the perfect combination for a recording.

I echo all the above comments. Great work, Gianni.

Thanks PMS and, of course, Idol judges. Once this one got started, it seemed to write itself.

Hey Gianni. How's it going? Look.... I'm going to need for you to come in on Saturday, because we're kinda behind on schedual so if you could just get here at 8:30 that'd be great.... Oh, and I think I might need you to come in Sunday too. Okay? Thanks...

Well executed, Gianni. And congrats on doing well in (Idol). Great flow to this one, and I think most people can relate to this. My personal fave: "Job goin' nowhere/somebody shoot me"

(SOTM) I'm used to ten past three as a student, but the same principle of 'get me the hell outta here!' remains. This was absolutely brilliant, Gianni, keep it up! 555 for you!

Great Idea and great pacing and rhyming. Loved the preacher/teacher...baker/shaker...hooker/looker gag that you carried through.
