The Lyrics

If I were Jesus, I probably would not have exercised my right to remain silent.
Herod, I am so dismayed to meet you face to face
You've been causing lots of pain all around the place
Taxing poor men, sentencing to death
Those who do not think you're God, or who don't do what you said

So you are the King, you're the great Herod King
Prove to me that you are fair, tell me to depart from here
That's all you need do, then I'll know that you're true
Come on, King of the Jews

Herod, I just can't believe the s*** you've done around here
You think you are such big stuff, the wonder of the year
Oh what a pity, the way you always lie
I know exactly where you'll go the minute that you die

So if you are the King, such a wonderful king,
Prove to me that you're no pawn, arrest your wife for killing John
Will you do that for me, and let me go free
Come on, King of the Jews

I only ask things I know are fair and right
Why is it that you have got to demonstrate your might?
I am waiting, yes I am going berserk,
I'm dying to be shown that you're not just another jerk

So if you are the King, yes the great Herod King
Tell these men "get out of here", they want me dead, hey, don't you care?
Has something gone wrong? Why do you take so long?
Come on, King of the Jews

So, are you scared of me, King, Mister Wonderful King?
You're a tyrant, says the Lord, you're nothing but a fraud!
Go on to Hell, Herod, I wish you well
Go on, you King of the
Go on, you King of the
Go on, you King of the Jews!

Go on, you wicked king Herod, go burn in the fire!

Well done, Michael, although I don't think Jesus would have said "s***" if He had chosen to respond to Herod's foolish questions. And even though it was Herod's wife Herodias who requested (through her daughter Salome) the execution of John the Baptist, it was Herod who gave the order to behead him.

All good points, John. But I would have used adult language in addressing Herod :E -- MM
