The Lyrics

Fay Wray, Jessica Lange, Naomi Watts. The guy may be a knuckle dragger, but you can't fault him for his taste. Peter Jackson's remake of the 1933 classic is scheduled for release December 14, 2005 - way too soon for those who are still trying to forget the 1976 version.
Every time - that I climb your apartment
I get fines - from the poh-lice department
[Wistful inhale]
They strafe me too-oooh

With my height
Pants won't stay on
Seems to scare the babes
'n'All I get's bananas for my paaaay

Eh -
Oh no
Nobody knows
Just how bad
My back hair grows
I know
It's never gonna thin
Think I'll get waxed and go-oh
Brazil-yinn

If you faint - like my girlfriend Fay Wray did
You may wake - up in-simian-ated
Too bad she's gooooone-oh
Other flings
Smell like the zoo

Scream with me
Scream-movie junkies
Scream for the reigning
King of the monkeys
Scream-a with me
Scream like Fay Wray
Maybe tomorrow
A big ape will take you awaaayhayayaayya

Well -
Scream with me
Screaming's aerobic
Scream like you're blitzed or
Go-rillaphobic
Scream-a, shorty
Dress for our date
I'm just a tourist
We'll check out the Em-pi-re Stayhayayayate

Mm -
King Kong
King Kong
King Kong
King of all the primate duuudes

King Kong
King Kong
King Kong
King of Peter Jackson's brood

King Kong
King Kong
King Kong
King Kong
KING KONG!
KING KONG!
KING KONG!
RRWOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!

Scream with me
Scream sweet Naomi
Scream like you're kissed by
Adrien Brody
Scream-a with me
Jess-ic-a Lange
'Cause your caree-er
'Bout died when they saw you ape-banged

Scream, Mothra
Godzilla, bite me
Buzz off, Joe Young - your
Ass ain't so Mighty
Scream-a with me
Straight to the bank
Hey we're all bad but
There's no bigger monkey to spank

Good hell you're clever. Too many funny lines to mention, and I don't even like King Kong. Well done Mighty Spaff Stud.

Good one! An anecdote about the 1976 turkey: Dino di Laurentis (producer of the turkey) and John Peters (producer of another remake turkey, the Barbra Streisand update of "A Star is Born") are at a party. Peters, a little tipsy says to Dino: "My picture's gonna gross more than yours!" Replies Dino: 'You may be right. Your gorilla can sing."

;-) I did a cleaned-up version for amiright, too... This is my favourite Aerosmith song, and one of my all-time favourites - and a typically excellent parody to go with it.
Stuart McArthur - February 02, 2005 - Report this comment
classic Spaff: " If you faint - like my girlfriend Fay Wray did - You may wake up in-simian-ated" - love those consecutive syllabic rhymes - very Chaucer
DKTOS, but very witty as usual - btw Australian boys fell in love with Naomi Watts when she did a lamb commercial here as a teenager - we miss her a bit - 555

We're still waiting for a parody about the pilots who shot the big ape down: "I Smite the Kongs." And for Fay Wray's version of the story: "You Shook Me All Night, Kong!" But then, Peter Jackson's got a long way to go. The original? That film was the pride of the fantasy side, from the tropics to island Manhattan. As the film legends go, that one's better than most. Don't watch that DeLaurentiis splat-in!
John Jenkins - February 02, 2005 - Report this comment
Too many good lines to list, but I particularly like go-rillaphobic and in-simian-ated.

Peterchyd: This time I decided to take the monkey and run.
2nz: Shaolin Monkey? I had that for lunch today with a side of steamed rice.
Sgt Decker: Is that a brand of ointment?
Philbo: Yep - classic rock at its classic-est.
Stuartiste: Grab the MP3 above. Seriously. Take Philbo's word for it.
Michaelopedia: "The Wreck of De Laurentiis' Monkey"? Two excellent reasons to see the 1976 version: Jessica Lange.

Johnglebarry: Here's one back atcha from Roger Ebert:
At a Hollywood party in 1972, I saw Hugh Hefner introduced to Fay Wray. "I loved your movie," he told her. "Which one?" she asked.

Haven't been around too much lately. Great job - 5's...by the way, when I worked at the Hollywood Supply Seargeant in the early-to-mid 80's we had some "King Kong" plastic drink cups that were left over from the promotional stuff created by the DeLaurentis folks for that miserable bomb of a flick...The cups were made of a very brittle type of plastic so they did not age well...if you actually put fluid in them and gripped the plastic fairly hard it would crack starting at the top rim and then move down with each re-grip. We used to get a lot of "Close out" and "Discontinued" crap real cheap...some of it we were able to sell...some of it just sat there and stared at us all day. the "Kong" cups were amongst the "starers". I bought some for store cost (pennies) and took them home for "kitsch" value...but finally threw them out when I moved a couple years ago. HEY! I see my name in the comments here. JD! Gosh - I'm honored by the mention. Haven't thought about writing any "Whatfreaks" stuff in quite a while now...

P-Rob: Hey, welcome back, man. You should have held onto those Kong cups until this fall. You could have listed them on eBay. After fees & stuff, you could have broken even.
