The Lyrics

This parody is about all of the actors who have played Doctor Who on either the television series, TV movies, theatrical movies, and remakes. I hear there's a remake in the works...
My, my, on Doctor Who, William Hartnell played the Doctor
Oh yeah, and Patrick Troughton played the Doc until 1969
This show should really be on your shelf
On DVD, all by itself

Doctor Who - Then Jon Purtwee did this bizarre show
Doctor Who - Tom Baker back in '74
Doctor Who - Peter Davison in '82
Doctor Who - 'Nother Baker took the job, played the Doctor, too
Doctor Who - All of these actors played Doctor Who

My, my, Sylvester McCoy didn't last much longer
Oh yeah, and McCoy was on the show 'till he left in '89
And then the shows were reruns
And then they made a movie, too

Doctor Who - Paul McGann played him in TV films
Doctor Who - Richard Hurndall in a TV movie
Doctor Who - Peter Davison in '82
Doctor Who - 'Nother Baker took the job, played the Doctor, too
Doctor Who - All of these actors played Doctor Who

And now the shows are reruns
And a remake is in the works

Doctor Who - Then Jon Purtwee did this bizarre show
Doctor Who - Tom Baker back in '74
Doctor Who - Peter Davison in '82
Doctor Who - 'Nother Baker took the job, played the Doctor, too
Doctor Who - All of these actors played Doctor Who

Good job with the parody. But, your opening comments confused me. To my understanding, the new Doctor Who episodes will not be a remake of the series, but a continuation of the series that opens with either the 9th or 10th incarnation, depending on casting and whether McGann will remain in canon. (I don't think he should any more than Hurndall did, but with his continuation of the role in the audio series, it's likely he will.) I'm a total Dr. Who geek, a pedantic little fan girl to be sure, but if they're starting over with a new first doctor, my interest level goes from unrationally high to less than zero. Considering the advanced years of the first doctor when the series picks up, I reckon I could live with a "first doctor" series that takes place during his youth or young adulthood and I guess, technically, that could be considered a remake. Anybody know for sure what their plans are as far as remake or continuation?

We never really got serious broadcasting of Doctor Who here in Sweden so I dont know much about it, but heres a hint for further parody writing about it: Theres an AC/DC song called "who made who". I guess it could be "who is who" or something like that... :-)

sorry, had to give you fours, the pacing was off in a few places, and a little extra work would have cleaned that up, plus you forgot peter cushing in a couple theatrical movies

sloatead... thanks for the memory jog. Cushing is who I was thinking of, this morning, (in re: portrayals that shouldn't be canon)... brain fart, I guess. Rowan Atkinson made for a good Doctor in his spoof, too.

Yay! It's always nice when someone introduces a new parody subject, especially one that I like. I didn't see most of these actors, having gotten spoiled after watching the Tom Baker incarnation first, especially since the one who followed Baker was sooooo serious!

Good work on a hard subject!

What's the name of that show?

You are a freak! Well researched! Maybe needed a touch extra work on the pacing. 4's all round.

I can see why a fan of the show would enjoy this parody (my brother was a Dr. Who addict who memorized just about as much trivia). But the pacing and rhymes...they drag these lyrics down to an average rating for me.
