This is a good song for satire. The sheer cheesiness of the song creates an instant burn on the target. And it's so obvious that once you see it, you face-palm yourself and say "Why didn't i think of that?"

I'm going to take you to task. I was fairly with you until you got into the abortion thing. Oh, come on, again?! I thought. Although I'm no fan of abortion, I'm tired of this issue being raised to obscure all other issues. From what I know, the Christian evangelist POV on abortion used to be that it's between the woman and her doctor, or between the woman and God. Not until the 1970s or 1980s, probably as a reaction against feminism and as a way to control and shame women, did the Religious Right made abortion one of their litmus tests. I think it's largely bogus, because in my opinion, they don't care one whit about what happens to the baby after it's born! Oh, yeah, let's make sure the kid was born, then we'll deny it and its parents healthcare, good education, safe neighborhoods, good job opportunities...just make sure that that woman who dared to have sex carries that kid to term! You can argue that animal rights aren't as valid as a human's right to life, and you'd be right. That doesn't mean that animal rights don't count at all. This particular lion was a local favorite, and I read that the hunting party lured it out of its safety zone. That's a crime. Also, you CAN satirize foreign languages. I see you did it with, "We are dumb today"; otherwise, there is too much "wimoweh", too much of the original lyrics. I like the lyrics "Lynch the dentist!The evil dentist!" 5-3-4. Notice, people, that I am NOT giving this parody 1-1-1; it deserves better than that.

There are more important news stories than either of these, but both are symptomatic of what's wrong with this country. As parodies go, this was an obvious choice, and, dare I say, well executed. I could hear this one in my head as I was reading it.

Melanie, I made reference in my introduction to Planned Parenthood and baby parts. Where did you think I was going with this? And I'm not an Evangelical, I'm a Roman Catholic, and we've been fighting abortion continually ever since Roe vs. Wade in 1973.

Melanie is an abortionist. Just think if your mom aborted you, Melanie. You had a right to exist, so why not others? Some of the greatest people in the world were born into poverty and or horrible environments and rose to fame and achievements. Aborting babies is denying the future and things like a cure to cancer etc... Abortionists are murderers.

Okay, I ranted above there. Since I've never performed a single abortion, or any other surgery, in my life (other than removing splinters from my fingers or toes), I don't qualify as an abortionist. I also said that I'm not a fan of abortion, and that I agree that animal rights, though important, aren't as important as a human's right to life. I'm just tired of the way that the Right has mishandled this issue for years: with shaming and blaming, not with compassion and real help for people with crisis pregnancies, and, more often than not, IMO, with very little actual caring about the babies in question. I don't believe that it's better for a baby to be aborted than to be raised in poverty. I'm saying, if you really care about the baby, why not also care about its quality of life, and do something about crushing poverty and dangerous living conditions?

...rather than downsizing and outsourcing jobs, voting against healthcare for the poor, mishandling education, building luxury apartments but not low-income housing, committing police brutality in the name of law and order, etc.? (I'd better stop; I'm ranting again!)
