Song Parodies -> "Maybe, Madonna"

Original Song Title:

"Lady Madonna"

Original Performer:

The Beatles

Parody Song Title:

"Maybe, Madonna"

Parody Written by:

Phil Alexander

The Lyrics

Maybe Madonna, you could change your style
Sell a few more records for a little while
Make some more money? Get a bit more press
A little more exposure than the way you dress

Teens and twenties feelin' like a virgin
In your thirties dressing like a nun
Now into your forties, you're emergin'...
See how they run.

Maybe Madonna, you could change your clothes
No, I think removing them's too far to go

Papapapa, pa pa papapa
Papapapa (I forgot the words)
Papapapa, pa pa papapa
Like my new song?

Maybe Madonna, write a book or two
Fill them up with photos of you in the nude

Teens and twenties somewhat over-rated
In your thirties, featured in the Sun
Now into your forties, Esther-mated
See how they run.

Maybe Madonna, you could change your name
Nah, you ain't THAT stupid, it would be so lame...

Must admit, Philbo, I don't particularly like "(I forgot the words)" as part of the lyric, but even though it is a bit of a cop-out, I think it works in this one. Touche from "Leonard Played Spock", LOL ;-D !! 5-5-5 on this one, Philbo, good job. And I know, I know, I know, you're putting those words "(I forgot the words)" into Madonna's mouth, they're not your own --- but I couldn't resist!

JD - point taken, OK, and as you can see from the comments up above, you're (er.. not^g^g^g) alone. Thanks for your vote and your in-depth, thoughtful comment.

Plagiarise, me? Never ;-)

In the case of Madonna I dont think that its wrong to put words in her mouth, everything elses been there...

Whoah, Phil, you and I just created a Mobius Strip of recursive meta-commentary. My wife tells me that scientists can get in trouble with the journals they publish their research in if they plagiarize themselves at a later date...go figure!

You may think so, JD... I couldn't possibly comment ;-)

Give Madge a break: At least you can pronounce "Esther," unlike what the artist sometimes known as Prince did.

Loved every syllable!

Michael - how did the A****le formerly known as Prince pronounce it, then? Anyway, I always thought an esther was what you got when you reacted an athid with an alcohol (OK, old chemistry joke... not funny)

Phil - very nice job. 5's - I caught this one while researching a somewhat similar general story-theme to this song( Madonna aging, no longer the object of all the 'buzz'). But it's different enough to stand on it's own.
