The Lyrics

Over the last few years, I have been bombarded with 1s by people who, for one reason or another, think I'm personally attacking them by attacking their politics. I don't even think they READ my parodies; they just look at the preface, see the name of a politico they love and then scroll right past the parody, give me 1s and compare me to Stalin/Hitler/Clinton/Jung-un/et al, though none have the GUTS to say so in comments. So I was thinking...maybe if I called out what they must be thinking...they'll know I'm on to them and maybe - JUST MAYBE - they'll treat me better or just leave me be. I wouldn't put good money on it but...hell, I gotta try SOMETHING. So, to all the haters who absolutely gotta hate, hate, hate, hate, hate on me, this one's...or, rather, this 1s for you! Share and Enjoy (doubt you will, but please try)!
One, one, one
One, one, one
One, one, one

There's nothing you can do we think ain't bad
Nothing you can "sing" (that) can't make us mad
Nothing you can say 'cause we think you are a real "a"
It's easy!

You say you hate politics; that's fine
You make fun of ours, you cross the line
Trashing our party makes you automatic'ly not funny
You're cheesy!

All you'll get is ones!
All you'll get is ones!
All you'll get is ones, ones!
Ones are all you get!

(guitar solo)

All you'll get is ones!
Why should you have fun?
Bashing you a ton, ton!
Ones are all you get!

We hate those who love Trevor Noah
Colbert should be fired from his show-a
If you don't agree, then you're an idiot to me
You're sleazy!

All you'll get is ones!
Where'd we keep our guns?
Best get on the run, run!
One's all you receive!

All you'll get is ones! (F@#$ your opinion!)
Did we read much? None! (You just suck, man!)
Pack it in, you're done! Done!
Ones are all you need.

Ones are all your need (Ones are all your need)
Ones are all your need (Ones are all your need)
Ones are all your need (Ones are all your need)
Ones are all your need (Ones are all your need)
REPEATS UNTIL NEAR THE END...
Oh! Oh, yeah!
F@#$ you, yeah, yeah, yeah!
F@#$ off, you, yeah, yeah, yeah!
End the hate and maybe we CAN be great again!

Note: I do not use the 1-5 scale. If I have an opinion, I can express it more precisely in writing. So, if you should see any numbers before the next comment shows up, they are not mine. Some visitors leave numbers but no comment. This used to be a site where writers of varying degrees of talent could express their insights into a variety of topics in clever, humorous, or poignant verse. Established authors would encourage newcomers and give them pointers on writing and pacing to produce better parodies. Sadly, this has been replaced by the same vindictiveness, name calling and hatred we see in the larger society. The ideal of our Nation's Founders was that politics was to be a minor, trivial part of life, with most aspects of earning a living, worshipping, interacting with family and friends to be separated from partisanship. Politics today permeates everything, to its detriment. Including AIR. Don't worry about ones. I don't. The only thing worth paying attention to is a comment by a knowledgeable writer who has actually read your parody, and expressed him or herself using his own name or an established pseudonym, not a one-off anonymous attack.

MAGA: Make Amiright Great Again!

Dear Rogue Scholar I totally agree with you. Amiright used to be really good during the 2000's but then it went badly downhill when some of the really good parody authors left, and all we seemed to get was parodies about poo or political issues. What are we left with? The rubbish authors such as Max Power and the_conqueror_of_parodies.

I have always tried to avoid reading parodies about explicit sex and excrement. Politics is a legitimate topic for parody. In fact, about the only time Saturday Night Live is funny is when the show deals with politics. But political parodies seem to serve nowadays only as excuses for partisan wrangling and ad hominem attacks. I've tried to explore other subjects including evolution, failed romance, children, and my own favorite topic, cloning. Not to mention the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald. Which I just mentioned. I like to extole the virtues and failings of my home town, Kansas City, Kansas, though a lot of what's wrong here is due to politics. On AIR today, the mentoring, encouragement and constructive criticism has given way to F--- Trump, and we're all hurt by that. I thank Charles Grosvenor for providing me with a forum to express my talents and enjoy those of others with similar interests. Making the site great again is a challenge we should all take up.

Dear Patrick. I agree with most of your comments. Regarding a certain topic (namely excrement as you put it so truthfully), you will get the naysayers complaining that their ‘free speech’ rights are being violated if the said parodies were disallowed.

Free Speech, as a Constitutional right applies to non interference on the part of the government. This site, as far as I know, belongs to one Charles Grosvenor. That means he gets to set the rules. I don't find songs about excretory functions to be entertaining. I have written about love, relationships good and bad, mating, both human and animal. I have described acts of affection and used the terms "going to bed" or "making love". I do not get into the explicit mechanics of sexual acts, hetero or homosexual. It's called "propriety". I assume most readers here are adults, so we should know what is or is not suitable for publication on a site that will be seen around the world. I also wonder why some people on this site continue to express a desire to committ homosexual sodomy in Japanese. Very strange.

You don't get ONES from me here. It's very normal to write political protest because there's so much that IS wrong and it's a form of healthy RESISTANCE. And I too avoid reading and writing parodies about sexy acts (hetero AND homo) -sexual, and human waste functions. That junk is middle school level juvenile humor. I'm an adult. But just look at this particular parody that bashes the purple dinosaur Barney from PBS-TV and then see the comment section, and you can see the maturity in quite a number of THOSE comments! And if Treasontrump gets out of office I'd like to see an improvement in creativity again. Since this CoVid-19 has grounded almost everything NOW is the opportunity for everyone to start being creative again and quit pushing garbage on the public. Hollywood, TV networks - I'm talking to YOU!!!!!
