The Lyrics

Politically neutral; applies to all candidates and to all of the winners. OS lyrics here. (Most Web lyrics are too short, and all the MIDIs are too long -- should be 2:22, not 2:58.)

If I gave my vote to you
Would those things you said be true?
And help im- -prove this land?
'Cause each one we've voted for
Was a rotten, lying wh**e
Who took bribes in hand

Though I give my vote
To you
I quake with fear
That each cam-paign quote
From you
Would prove so insincere

If I trust in you
Oh please
Don't run, then lie
If I donate, too
Oh please
Don't go awry; concur!

'Cause the world looks with disdain
And I
Would be sick if this campaign
Were in vain

Will you guar-an-tee that you
Will keep word to us?
Know that we are through
If you give us the screw

We can't go through that again!
And you
Sounded so sincere, but oh, did you feign?

So I hope you see
That I
Want to be-lieve you;
Go a-way; good-bye; if you're one of "them" too
If I gave my vote to you

All scum--just a matter of degree. Nice job.
alvin - October 02, 2008 - Report this comment
this matched the plaintive and questioning tone of the OS quite well

Bravo! Your song pierced my *vary * heart like a lovely lyrical shiv--an angsty aldente anthem sans angrification and so refreshingly non-parmesan!
AFW - October 02, 2008 - Report this comment
quite well expressed

John Barry, thanks.... alvin, thanks for extra-perceptive comment... AFW, thanks.

Sarah Nader Biden, thanks... it was non-parmesan because it was written in romano-clef (go look up "roman a' clef" in your Funk'n Wagnalls :).... and as alvin noted, aldente was a more appropriate tempo than "con brie"... Tonight we get to hear you debating yourself (insert lewd pun here, as you're both masters of the art).... hope you can keep your Biden side from cheddaring away the whole evening, and that politics doesn't reach a new nadir. (ps: "angsty" was a dead give-away:-) ... thanks for v/c

Good one. your politicians are pretty much the same as ours - tell you everything you want to hear until they're in and then just do the same as the previous lot or worse.

Andy Primus: Just like men do to women lol :) Thanks for v/c, and do you care to share where "ours" is? UK? Pakistan? Soviet Union? Nazi Germany? .... they all *are* alike, aren't they? Thanks Andy.
