The Lyrics

Where have all the comics gone, / Long time passing? / Where have all the comics gone / We see no more? / Some have gone into this song / With romances all gone wrong / So many fellas spurned! / So many fellas burned! :-)
Well, now Little Lotta© said, “No thanks” for the ring
“Too much Lotta, too Little King©.”
And Nancy© dumped her beau, told Aunt Fritzy Ritz,
“Compared to my guy Smokey’s, Sluggo’s hugs are the pits.”

Those guys’re used-up lovers, ’cause it’s all Stover now!
Those guys’re used-up lovers, ’cause it’s all Stover now!

Little LuLu’s© quit ménagin’ with those Katzenjammer© brats
And Brenda Starr© has broken, that ol’ heart of Krazy Kat’s©
Ooola said, “Alley Oop©, here’s the scoop –
I’m droppin’ you for Smokey, you Stone Age nincompoop!”

Those guys’re used-up lovers, ’cause it’s all Stover now!
Those guys’re used-up lovers, ’cause it’s all Stover now!

Now, that fireman, Smokey Stover©, he’s a real big wheel,
He’s got a Foomobile, a Notary Sojac seal.
Now he’s ev’rywhere with all the comics girls
Makin’ other guys in comics look like churls.

Those guys’re used-up lovers, ’cause it’s all Stover now!
Those guys’re used-up lovers, ’cause it’s all Stover now!
Those guys’re used-up lovers, ’cause it’s all Stover now!
Those guys’re used-up lovers, ’cause it’s all Stover now

© Stan Hall Afterthought, same tune: "Sunday mornin’s I used to leap from my bed Couldn’t wait to get those color comics read! / This short song mentions way too few, Oh my! / I think I should’a parodied Amer’can Pie!" .... Why, it even starts off appropriately: "A long, long time ago ..."

Stan, I wasn't immediately aware of what you were talking about, but I got the gist pretty quickly, good job!

Alvin, Peregrin .. thanks. Wasn't sure who here would be old enough to even recognize those old strip titles/characters. The prefatory verse essays to hint at this parody's theme, but being itself a mini-parody of an entirely different theme .... er, tune, may mystify more than clarify. . :-)
