The Lyrics

Better-than-usual-sound-quality (for its age) video of OS "My Guy".

Song being reworked: Live original performance, in full black-and-white (cuts off the fade-outs), of "My Girl".

Ev'ry cloudy day
Sun-shine beams my way from my girl
Feelin' cold and blue?
Breath of springtime, new, from my girl

What makes me feel this way?
Spirits damp? They get better
It's like May, with warm weather
When - we're together
My shell, into, comes her heart
And never will depart, that's my girl

Honey: other lips?
T. only unzips for his girl (my girl)
Bitter "end": new hips,   [1]
So: faithful, never slips from his girl (my girl) (prize pearl)

So sweet to lie, my bod upon her
Always faithful; ne'er dishonor
Who gives me this feeling
That's always appealing? My girl!

Well, my heart is always singin'; song never stops
So much sweeter, sounds, than the the birds in tree-tops
My love: at her; embraced; embraces back
She makes me feel at the top of the pack!

For Hollywood fans
Would not abandon my girl (my girl)
For fortune, fame,
I'd never leave that dame; she's my girl (tie: girl!) (fly girl!)   [2]
I may not be no Donald Trump
But all it takes to make me happy: her rump!
There's not a gal alive
Who could make me connive on my girl

[interlude]

No money, I need
Or ego, feed; just my girl (my girl)
Just call me "rich"
'Cause never does she b*tch; she's my girl (high girl) (Hi, Girl!)
I may not drive a fancy car
But as for coming in the back seat -- we are!
Yes, ev'ry rainy day
She can make month of May; that's my girl

(What'd you say?)
On ev'ry cloudy day
I'll see a break; sunbeam ray from my girl
(What's her score?)
Scale: one to ten, to rate
No mistake: ninety-eight, is my girl!

(repeat; feeling doesn't fade)

[1] Proverbs 5:3-4 (King James): "For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil: But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword." ... Actually, TT has seen some whose "ends" were pretty sweet, too... ;) Who knew the Bible had puns? (Yeah, I get the metaphor.) ... Quoting Scripture in a boy-girl 60s pop song? Hey, everyone knows TT is schiz-- er, "eclectic". ;)

Irresistible P. S.: From halfway through 18 to 19, same chapter: "... rejoice with the wife of thy youth. Let her be as the loving hind (Another pun! Oh, those sly ancients!) and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love." ... Didja' hear that, Ladies? You are *ordered* by Scripture to ravish your husband. Now, finish reading these smooshes, and go thou as commanded! :-)

[2] Is "fly" still in use as slang for "cool, stylish"?

"My Guy" was one of the first Motown songs to cross the Atlantic, where it peaked at number five on the UK chart. Around this time, despite being intense competition, The Beatles publicly stated that Wells was their favorite American singer. She was invited to open for the group during their tour of the United Kingdom, thus making her the first Motown star to perform in the UK.

In 1990, Wells, living at the time in Los Angeles, was diagnosed with throat cancer. When conventional treatment was unsuccesful, TT, also still living in L.A., eventually attempted to contact her regarding alternative and complementary treatment options, but was unable to reach her.

R.I.P. Mary Wells, July 26, 1992, at the age of forty-nine.

As far as having a multiplicity of women, did not Jesus say that a man cannot serve two masters?
