Well in late September a few of us here
Got together and decided that we’d like to appear
In a showpiece at Christmas, the type you’d allow,
And that is just precisely what we’re trying to do now.

With high high va high vari, high variety
(And we’ll try to bring you),
High high va high vari, high variety.

Now the winter evenings are long and cold,
And there isn’t much to do here as you might have been told.
So we advertised for members which we duly engaged,
And no matter what they came to do they landed on stage.

In high high va high vari, high variety
(And they really love it),
High high va high vari, high variety.

The scripts were written, the props acquired,
Recordings were made and the costumes hired.
Rehearsals were started just two months ago,
And someone has the nerve to say that this is a show!

It’s high high va high vari, high variety

(If we held it on Mont Blanc it would be called even higher variety!)

(As it is we’ve had to bring the level of humour down a little!)

(And if the compere doesn’t turn up soon, we’ll all be for hire!)
