The Lyrics

My own songs never contain references to my job, it's something I do to escape the daily grind, but this one was written at work while my mind was in that set. I also wanted to avoid doing my first impulse, "Circle Jerk"
Yesterday, my boss came to the meeting
Caught a lot of flack from comp'ny brass
Seems the profit margins took a beating
As streams flow downhill so must the whup-ass

So the boss made ten new resolutions
Passed them round, commandments they became
All the staff guffawed at his delusions
The ones last month were almost just as lame

And the reasons why the profits sucks
Is the pointed fingers and passing bucks
Just cover up mismanagement each time
They never learn, we're the pawns they rook
They have no couth or shame
And go round and round and round
In the circle blame

Sixty stocks are steadily declining
Cutting staff has caused staff to not care
And we tell him, what is wrong, but it's all whining
And the problems they pretend are just not there

And the reasons why the workplace sucks
Is the pointed fingers and passing bucks
Just cover up mismanagement each time
They never learn, we're the pawns they took
They have no truth or shame
And go round and round and round
In the circle blame

So the days go by and now the place is empty
And the CEO's have cashed out and are rich
We'll get new jobs, the snowing will be plenty
And all us grunts still know what caused the glitch

And the reasons why the profits end
And the pointed fingers and passing wind
Just cover up mismanagement each time
They never learn, we're the pawns they fook
We have no proof, just shame
And go round and round and round
In the circle blame

You know what, Rick? Sometimes that "Real Life" stuff makes the best material. This is really, really good - and it just REEKS of truth...I know which company you are talking about, but it applies to a Hell of a lot of Big Companies...like the one I USED to work for...same type of Crapola...same results...working stiffs at the bottom (& middle)..."Adios"...yeah, sure...lop off a few thousand folks who make $15-$30 bucks-an-hour...and actually get stuff done (if they are allowed to by policy)...meanwhile, give some lame, delusional, fat-ass, brown-nose CEO or whatever a raise or bonus of SEVERAL million or more...or maybe like Exxon-Mobil recently did...retiring CEO got a $400 MILLION retirement bonus...Yup, the SAME guy who testified before Congress last Fall about Oil Pricing and shortages and said, "We are all in this together...", which is true...we GIVE...they TAKE...sounds like an even equation to me. Anyway, suffice to say I really think this is a fantastic piece of work and, yeah, I'm giving it "5's"...

Sounds like my my job(and everyone else's). Managers are trained to be that way, in my opinion. DKTOS, but I agree with you and give you 5s.

TTTBF (Too true to be funny.) "Cutting staff has caused staff to not care" -- I run into that all the time. Dead on and said bon. $555 bonus for you; now, would you mind putting in a few hundred hours of unpaid OT?

DKTOS, but I'm off to look now: speaking as someone who handed in his notice this morning, I can *really* relate to this...
