The Lyrics

For you chaps across the pond, Chris Huhne is (or probably "was" by the time you read this) a LibDem MP, brought down by his ex-wife who, a decade ago, took his speeding points so he could avoid prosecution then grassed him up when he left her. Very sad.
Chris Huhne
Chris Huhne

Most mornings at the House of Commons you'd see
A grey-haired Lib'ral Democrat MP
At the Palace of Westminster, down by the Thames
And some folks thought he should lead the LibDems, Chris Huhne.

Chris Huhne

Like most MPs he'll do what he can
To appear to be a happily married man
But if they're not Ann Widdecombe, and if they're not gay
Then like many MPs he started playin' away, did Chris Huhne.
But if there's one thing in life a man should avoid
It's getting his not-quite-ex-wife annoyed
It prob'ly don't matter if you're happily married
But a wife knows where all the bodies are buried

Chris Huhne

There was a fateful day back in two thousand-three
Huhne's car was caught doin' excess speed
When the notice came through, it was time to appeal
And his wife said she was behind the wheel
Not Huhne
The police at the time had no way to tell
That he'd escaped their attentions by lyin' like hell
While Huhne won elections, didn't lose his deposit
This skeleton started festerin' there in his closet, Chris Huhne

Chris Huhne

Ten years on, he wants to start a new life
With a younger woman who isn't his wife
A bad idea - reckon he should o' been warned
There ain't no anger like a woman scorned, Chris Huhne.
She went to the press "Thought you'd like to know
Chris Huhne lied all those years ago
I took his points on that licence of mine"
Everybody knew it was the end of the line, for Chris Huhne.

She got her revenge, did the woman he'd jilt
He's just been in the dock, admitting his guilt
And here's how it ends, my sordid tale:
With a newly ex-MP going to jail, Chris Huhne'

Nice lexecution... Don't know the sordid backstory, but when Holmes was asked to explained women & politics, I believe he quipped, "Parlimentary, my dear Watson."
