I don't see how you can call Secretary Clinton the "choice of the people" when her unfavorable ratings were as high as they were. But I, too, am sad, as I would have been no matter who won. This was probably the worst choice of presidential candidates our great country has ever had.

I admire your stamina and resolve, sir. You stick to your guns no matter what. This is a well written parody, but then you have always been a fine writer. Metaphorically this site is a big colorful picture of personalities. If you were never here that color that is you would never shine through and the rest would have lost out on the shine. I agree with Jenkins, it was the worst choice of candidates ever. Still, Hillary was clearly a lot better than Trump so Hillary got my vote. So I feel the pain too. I think it depends on the election as to which party stays home more. The Independents are supposed to be the ones to decide it, but if it's unequal on both sides who knows

John J: At last check, Hillary had 631,000 more popular votes than Trump. That's more than Kennedy had over Nixon in 1960, more than Humphrey had over Nixon in 1968, more than Gore had over Bush in 2000. Many of those votes may have been reluctant, but she DID finish 1st, so it cannot be argued that she was not "the people's choice." She didn't get enough of the people in the right places. I did the math: If (and, with population growth, she should at least have done this) Hillary had merely gotten as many votes in each State as Obama got 4 years ago, she would have won not only Florida, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan and Wisconsin, but also Arizona, and won 313 Electoral Votes. The Electoral College is the last bastion of the antiquated and idiotic idea that States have more rights than the people therein. Just 4 years ago, Trump was dumb enough to think that Romney was winning the popular vote, and said that we ought to get rid of the Electoral College. He was half-right.

But if Clinton had won under the Electoral College vote as normal, it would have been fine, right? The liberal mind never ceases to amaze me. You lost because your polls were wrong (as were the liberal biased media) and establishment Hillary took female and minority voters for granted. Trump the outsider populist won and saved Congress! I would say that the people have spoken. Absolutely. By the rules they voted.

Some interesting "what if" scenarios. Caught the influence of third party candidates, too. The Electoral College is one of the last bastions of State influence. I would like to see the election of senators revert to the State legislatures, as it was in the pre-1913 Constitution of the United States. That would go a long way to eliminating unfunded federal mandates.
