The Lyrics

Ah, television. I don't know about you, but the less I watch the better I feel. And then I have more time for other things, for instance, writing song parodies. So we'll roll out another CSN song here. I really don't like to swear in these but it's really the only word to properly describe TV content in the context I'm using it in. Anything else and I'm not calling it like I see it.
If you watch TV you will understand
'Cause that is something anybody who has watched just knows contains no magic.
I can see on your couch, my friend,
You've got the TV Guide,
There's just one thing I got to know,
Can you tell me please, what's on?
Say have you watched the new sitcom on Friday?
Yes, and I'm thinking that it can't last for more than 7 weeks, now,
I didn't laugh once.
Plot is simply too contrived.

Awful shit on the TV, plain to see, it's easy.
Easy to tell that there's not much for me.
Couch potatoes on their sofas will indeed
Watch it because it's free and easy.
Boredom grips me when I watch this crap.
What can I do besides take another nap?
Click the remote and disengage this pap.
I'm not watching - I don't need it.

Go, buy a book from the local stand,
Take me away from this dross so bland,
Far away, from vapid TV land,
I'm not watching - I don't need this.

Now there's a new show, being aired,
Ten o'clock out over the Network.
Think I'll play my stereo.

Yes! YES ! Paul, you did a great job with this CSN / Jefferson Airplane classic - it's one I had considered doing, but you've gotten to it before me and you've done a fantastic job. 555

Johnny D, thank you. I have had some ideas of doing "Wooden Ships" for a while but couldn't quite put a whole song together. Of course, that was before I knew about this site. I guess being able to post them when completed provides the extra motivation to stretch out a little.

I read this before, but I like it even better the second time.

Rick D - Thanks, Rick. That happens to me a lot. Especially when I'm trying to look at a bunch of songs in a relatively short amount of time. I was doing that between calls her for a while but right now I'm training someone most of the day (that's a long story, but I'm cool with it). I told him about the site because I know his wife (another long story) and I've showed him some of my stuff. But in between calls I'm just a teachin' fool for now.

nice job on a song that has tricky pacing

Alvin - Thanks. Yeah, I had to do a fair amount of work on this. Had to keep listening to the original song, make adjustment and then keep replaying it...I really like to sing the parodies I do with the original versions so I sometimes get a little annoyed with myself when the pacing is a bit off, especially the CSN numbers, so I get pretty picky on my pacing with those. Glad you liked it.
