The Lyrics

This song just rang in my head for a word about weight loss:

I see, my clothes size a-risin'
I feel, double on my weigh
I will, partake in widenin'
My door, can't fit no way
My legs are building sites
It's now diet or my life
Fast food put more meat on my thighs

All fear, my gasses a-blowin'
A shovel is my silver spoon
What's my, liver undergoin'
I fear, my life's on road to ruin
Takes two seats on a flight
LDL shortens my life
Now, there's more meat on my thighs

Bad sight

Want to, be light as a feather
Don't want, to tell my kids goodbye
One day, I'll fit into some leather
Till then, parachute pants apply

Well, I'll live on salad nights
Till my feet will see the light
And there's less meat on my thighs
I'll eat fat free every night
Till my weight will meet my height
Then, my clothes will be downsized

This gave me a warning bell in my head. I myself needed to lose some weight so I could fit in at least size 5 jeans. Most of my dresses are tight it's hard to zipper them 'cuz they have those small zippers that easily get stuck or caught. My dad's also picking on me about my weight. It's not like I'm obese or anything. I've been putting on pounds lately. Anyways, you now lost 555 pounds.
Glen S - May 06, 2009 - Report this comment
Enjoyed the parody, and I can relate, as I have some extra pounds on me currently. Especially enjoyed the 'feather/goodbye/leather/apply' stanza and its subs

Great job Mark, never fails every spring trying to lose the 10 pounds packed on during the winter months, here's three 5's for chewing the fat with you, I can truly hear John Fogerty BELTING out the lyrics.

Great song - always reminds me of Werewolf In London. Great parody - like the others who left comments I can relate to it as well. I've gone from a fit 15 stone (I'm way taller than average) to 19 stone since having to give up physical work due to back injury. Don't really care about the wobbling but I'm gutted that I have to keep buying new clothes

Mark - Sorry I weighted so long to read this. I can't wait on no diets. Luckily I have never had a weight problem except that I'm impatient and I usually can't wait. When I fill out an application and there is a block for weight I fill in "Can't". I do a lot of CCR stuff so this parody is pure joy to me. Nicely done. Take 5 pounds off and call me in the morning.

You did it , Mark- you found an upside to downsize. Here's five donuts - one for each chin. There was a female who worked at the same place that I did. This was a few years ago - she got a VCR for Christmas - she was so huge that when she opened it she said, oh how cute - a pager. She only ate on two conditions and that was when she was alone or when she was with someone. .

LOL!!! Thanks, Guy!

(Artistry) Weight is always a good topic for a parody. Great idea and opening line, I'm also working on getting my weight to match my height. My plan is to grow twenty feet tall.

Even though the theme is common, your approach was fresh. Kinda like Chipolte :) Thanks for making me feel guilty about eating there now though! :p I'll have to spend $5.55 getting a nice burrito salad.

(Artistry) Not exactly original as far as food parodies go, but still very well written - I liked the 'parachute pants' gag. Paced very well too.

Thanks, bobpie!
Red Ant - August 25, 2009 - Report this comment
I had a bid of trouble getting the lyrics to fit the OS, but with the topic they still work. "Till then, parachute pants apply" was a killer line!
Mark Scotti - August 25, 2009 - Report this comment
Salads of thanks to you, Red Ant!!

(Artistry) This one had a bit of randomness to it, however it was made up for with fun quirky rhymes, solid pacing, and an ability to sing it along easily without getting lost. One piece of advice I have is sticking stronger to a theme, random can be fun--but that second stanza almost derailed the song for me--it didn't really fit the 'weight' theme of the song, still good job, and you got me to laugh--which is the crux of the matter.

This one paced well, and was a decent idea, but there were no over the top lines for me. It was good though Mark, may edge into my top 5 or be very close to it at the very least.
