The Lyrics

READ IT CAREFULLY. . .this one has twists in it that are easy to overlook--especially at the end. . .The best version to use to sing along if you really want to try is here though in honesty its mostly a spoken song. I kinda at badave.com but I'm fully at soundclick.com
Well this lady I met did flirt with me
So we hung out each night 'round three
She was kinda tall and she fell in high heel shoes
Now, on Friday nights she went and she did
some big long lip-synced Lady GaGa bid
And before she left guys slipped tips in her boobs

Well, she laughed a lot and was never broke
and she got lots of gasps from lotsa folks
I thought that they were checking her out too
One night behind us I saw red
And she pulled over, and the cop said
License please, and it turned out her name was Drew

Well, My heart beat quick and I asked honey bee
I thought you said your name was Julie
So why'd that guy there call you that name?
and then she said oh wow honey, you from Mars?
About then I was seeing some stars
Is she a man who gave me a drag queen name?

Well, I looked her up and down her thigh
And I could see it there in bright day light
I thought "Oh my lord, my chic is a dude"
It was like a brick hit me with a thud
Passed out and felt like a dud
The girl I was lovins' real name was Drew

Well, I woke up later that night in her bed
She said "What's wrong, you zonked and hit your head"
And I just looked at her with an inquisitive eye
Tell me what I just heard isn't true
And she looked at me and her face was blue
And she said: "My name is Drew, Babe it is true
I ain't gonna lie"
Yeah that's what she told me

Well, I ran to my car down in her drive
And she acted like she was surprised
She said "What's Up" and I said "I Gotta get out of here"
But she looked at me now and she was looking so mean
and she bent over close and on my door she leaned
Yelling and a cussing in foul words so absurd in my ear

I mean I thought she was a gal
and maybe we can go and be pals
I tried to be cool and she said I was mean and vile
I heard her yell and I said now please don't cuss
but my car wouldn't start so I called for a bus
She sat there and asked me could I stay for awhile

And I said, "I, May like it rough
But babe I can't fake it, I don't do that stuff
If I had known you were a guy I would've left you a lone
Then what she told me next was the biggest surprise
She said "You dummy I ain't a guy
Drew is my name don't mean I have a dong"

Yeah

I said: "What was that bulge I saw 'tween your thighs"
And you won't believe me, she relieved my fright
Her tampon shown, yep I mistook my chick for a dude
But she up'd and dumped me, she said goodbye
She punched me in my guts, said I wasn't right
Was the last that I saw of that girl named Drew

Yeah
Who would've knew, who would've knew
I got all messed up, and when she was gone
And I called up my mom, and she said what is wrong
And I lost my girlfriend who's name was Drew
She said "That's alright there little Jen
Someday you'll find a girl who believes you're a Jim"
And I told her the whole story, What dude's name will I pretend?
Bob or John! Hell maybe Drew! I still miss that dame!

Yes, the character in this song is a girl who is pretending to be a dude who gets upset because she thinks the girl she is dating is actually a dude. . . mind bending, twisted, funny

I like the twists! I have to admit I know a few women (who are really women) named Drew (like Barrymore, although I don't know her personally). Fun song.
Matthias - June 14, 2010 - Report this comment
I too loved the twists and it wasn't nearly as confusing as I thought it was going to be. Mine in this round is a classic but.... This one might take the cake.

Reminds me off the old poll in Mad Magazine (the local one) in the 70s, options to be in the lottery for a subscription was; "male", "female" and "other". Statistics later revealed showed that they had 80 % "other" for readers.

Well, I'm not the world's most masculine man, but I know what I am, I'm glad I'm a man, who's giving this a 5. But I did think it would be about Drew Barrymore.

Thank you everyone, when this hit me, I started laughing my butt off so I had to write it. Matty--who are you talking to, I don't see anyone saying they sang this song:) I may not have sang it, but I will be now, this was very fun to write and to a surprisingly fun Johnny Cash song (first song I've heard by him that I really did like)
Below Average Dave - June 14, 2010 - Report this comment
Oh, I see what you mean Matty, haha, this song is such a confused character, it thinks the original writer was a person who's mom was only 3 at the time it was released:) I'll let Chucky know about that one, that'd be a first though--a parodist doing a parody of his own song, don't even know if that'd really be called a parody, but its a funny concept.

It's a delight to see such grand inspiration, drawn out to a fantastic conclusion. Dave, you have made a new classic. (Security code semi-appropriately XXY for that extra chromosome)

(Artistry) Well, that was...different. Amusingly so, yet confusingly so, but altogether awesomely so. I'm feeling a little bit loopy. 555!

I can definitely see this being a big hit in the clubs. For some reason, it made me think of the old Woody Allen line "I've had a sex change operation six times - I can't find anything I like."
DJ Blaze - June 27, 2010 - Report this comment
Had me confused for a while, but I eventually got this well-written piece of awesomeness. 555

I totally love the original and the spoof at the same time.

You already know what I think of this one. Hilarius and to an artist you hated, so my hat's off to you sir.

Loved it the first time, loved it again!

(SOTM) Surely you're not talking about Drew Barrymore. Well, great work, great story, and great joke, Dave. Dug the bulge/tampon part. He sure got owned by Drew for that one! Well, you'll never know. 'Drew' may be a guy after all. She just does a better job at hiding it. I also heard this rumor that Kathy Ireland is really a man a long time ago and went through major sex change operation and voice surgery. But turned out that isn't true after all. Hilarious. Enjoyed this lots. 555!

SOTM: Nice work, I was not expecting the twist at the end...well done good sir.

SOTM-JUN-10

This has the twistiness of a good "Law and Order" episode. I especially liked the ending; to be honest I did not expect that. Ya got me, hook, line you stinker. =;-) I was thinking Barrymore from the start and figured that would be the twist and it was but just not the coup de gras that came at the end, Jen.
