The Lyrics

I think i've earned the right to call a song untitled by now if no good title fits
How long until we implode
And our careers go down the commode?
How long "til my vocal cords
Break from the strain, and I'm ignored?
And soon, I'll have to pay
For stacking my songs chock-full of clichés
How much can lyrics complain
Until they drive, all of my fans insane?

I'm swell, I'm swelling with pride
Fanbase is acting like I'm deified
Can't tell, if my ego
Has gotten much too big
I don't want to know
And Gwyn, she thought it was cute
To name our kid after a fruit
I could, I could not stop her
Because I'm weak, as you can infer

Stadiums, we fill with crowds
That are cheering very loud
I've heard we're bigger than the Beatles now
Who told me that? I don't recall
Erm, we're really more like Creed right now
And we're due for a humongous fall

I write so poetically
Which means nobody can understand me
The songs are metaphor style
Listen and scratch your head awhile
The single thing that is clear
Is that my thoughts are kinda weird
What am I talking about?
I don't have a clue you figure it out

Stadiums, we fill with crowds
That are cheering very loud
I've heard we're bigger than the Beatles now
Who told me that? I don't recall
Erm, we're really more like Creed right now
And we're due for a humongous fall
With our CDs half price at the mall

Lights go out and I can't be saved
Wrong song, common mistake
I have nothing new to say
Sooooooooooo
Heard we're bigger than the Beatles now
Who told me that? I don't recall
Erm, we're really more like Creed right now
And we're due for a humongous fall
With our CDs half price at the mall

I'm going to buy the new Coldplay CD to give them a shot though hearing them Live on MTV was disappointing. If the CD is infact a letdown I'll 555 this later.

Ha, ha, ha! I actually like the X&Y album very much, but "SOS" certainly does tread on well-trodded ground. Great satire, Eth! (especially in the verse where he starts singing "Clocks"!).

As a Coldplay fan, this made me laugh. Except his ego really isn't that big. He even claimed nobody like Coldplay in one of his acceptance speeches for some award, IIRC.
