The Lyrics

Bit of a different route for us. Hopefully more of you actually know the song. =) It's a bit of a history lesson and a spoof at the same time...
woohoohoo!
woohoohoo!

Ethel just hit the wall
She used to have a ball
Drank Champagne all night
Danced till the morning light
Money came in the door
Just one great year before
Bought mansions with her wares
With her stock market shares

Mussolini came to power
She was a big Yankees fan
She never opened Mein Kampf
Gonna screw Charlie Chaplain
The Locarno Treaties
kept down the enemy
She partied all the time
for four years, she was, ALRIGHT when there's

Hoagy, Cole Porter
Gherig in the order
There was Ira, and George G
And a blues out of St Loueee
Her grandkids, are 40
They can't believe it lordy,
That she was really alive
In 19, 19, 1925

woohoohoo!
woohoohoo!

She's read all the classics
She's Hemmingway's glee
"...Sun Rises" Teddy Dreiser
Even "The Great Gatsby"
She rocked out to HOLST!
Never felt depression woes
were around the dash
In a gigantic stock market crash

Where's the flapper dress, looking vi-le?
John T Scopes owed a C, after the Monkey Trial
When did Louis Armstrong Become all wrong
Whatever happened to Nielsen, Ravel,
(on the radio was)

Hoagy, Cole Porter
Gherig in the order
There was Ira, and George G
And a blues out of St Loueee
Her grandkids, are 40
They can't believe it lordy,
That she was really alive
In 19, 19, 1925

woohoohoo!

She hates time. There's no doubt.
When did Calvin Coolidge get voted out?
And since when's Reagan, not been an actor
Senile bags, BAGS! BAGS! WE!.... all scream for

Hoagy, Cole Porter
Gherig in the order
There was Ira, and George G
And a blues out of St Loueee
Her grandkids, are 40
They can't believe it lordy,
That she was really alive
In 19, 19, 1925

Unfortunately, I don't know the original, but I know a song of the same title by Paul McCartney from the Band On The Run album.

(123) '1985' has got to be the most-parodied song that no one has heard (i haven't either). It's obvious a lot of hard work went into this.

You fulfilled your claim of a very good history lesson and spoof. But Calvin Coolidge was not voted out. Probably the finest American president of the twentieth century, Coolidge served from 1923 to 1929 and chose not to run in the 1928 election.

Mussolini came to power in 1922. And no mention of Red Grange, the Galloping Ghost who saved the infant NFL? Other than that, very good.

Wow..I really liked it. It was cool although I didn't know what some of the stuff meant. It kinda seemed like the song "We didn't start the fire" for some part but the original song is kinda like that too. But pretty cool though!
