Song Parodies -> "DKTOS"

Original Song Title:

"Hate Me"

Original Performer:

Blue October

Parody Song Title:

"DKTOS"

Parody Written by:

Joel Martinez

The Lyrics

Based on the fact that some songs are just too good to be well known (and the reason to why most of my parodies don't get that many comments), so unless you know the song, you've recieved the idea of downloading it, or you like this parody for just what it sais, BYE!! I DON'T NEED YOU TO CRITISIZE ME FOR SOMETHING YOU HAVEN'T EVEN HEARD OF!!!
I have to delete notes like these
So I don't loose my mind
They crawl in like a virus
Leaving bane to my hard drive
Dropping acronymic points
That reminds me I'm on my own
About good bands and good songs
That make them all just seem unknown
There's a burning in their pride
A cause of widening distress
Cause there's no peace in these kinds of disputes
Known as DKTOS
Cause comments never say that they know songs
Just to bother downloading
And when they don't even try to do that
This is what they keep saying

DKTS
DKTOS
Don't know the original song you spoofed
By heart

Been going on since a.i.r. was found
Since its establishment, it's been there before
The one thing that always turned it unsound
Is the deed that it can't be ignored
In a nice mode I really hate you
For making such thing to point this out
While I was busy browsing a.i.r. to myself
You were typing this all too loud
You never paid focus to dominions such as billboard charts
And hits
You maybe commented yourself
On songs that were far from noticed
So I'll browse so freakin' far away
To forget about the past
And do whatever it takes to ignore
The symbol known as-

DKTS
DKTOS
Do not know the whole original song
For you
For more than less
I believe I'm obsessed
With the deal no one listens to the songs I knew

And with no regret I say bye to amiright
Leaving parodies I've made
For every dumb song no one could find
And like a teenage boy, I never was mature
Until I came back to this site, and I checked around to be sure
Cause then I found out it won't ever go away
It will just stay there all the time until all life decays
So then even this parody's comments will say

DKTS
DKTOS
Do not know the whole original song
For you
For more than less
I believe I'm obsessed
With the deal no one listens to the songs I knew
Wouldn't it be funny if someone ACTUALLY put as a comment the name of the parody I'm using for this song? hee hee,NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Joel, DKTOS, heh heh. Actually, I didn't know it but I did d/l the song, in all its 9 MB glory. Good fit to the lyrics, and I voted 5s. Congrats on the first parody of song and band too. I've collected a few links that might help you:

That link is the FAQ. Peter Andersson, ChuckyG and several others put a lot of work into it, and I think you'll find it helpful.

That link may have the answers you are looking for as to why your parodies aren't getting many comments/votes. Continued...

Reply #38 is pretty much everything I learned up 'til June of last year regarding parodies. Although much has changed since then for me, it is also helpful, and the links inside have 3 other "how to" articles on parodies.

That link is a list of the 50 most parodied songs on AmIRight. Not every one of these is necessarily well-known, but should you chose to parody one of them you probably won't get DKTOS.

Song obscurity has pros and cons. The pros being you are breaking new ground, bringing variety to the site, and you don't have to worry about your parody looking like someone elses, content or title-wise. The cons, as you've already figured out, can be low votes/comments and DKTOS. If you stick to obscure (or in this case, very new) songs, that is something you will have to contend with.

"..some songs are just too good to be well known"; I agree. Faith No More (who? exactly) immediately springs to mind. The 4 parodies I've done from the Angel Dust album, one of the best CDs of the 90s, went over with little fanfare, and gathered several DKTOS.

The author of the parody has authorized comments, and wants YOUR feedback.
