Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody.
For more information about the misheard lyrics available on this site, please read our FAQ.
This page contains a list of the songs that have stories about their misheard lyrics submitted.
Song names are sorted by first letter, excluding A and The. This is sorted by song title only, not
by song title and performer. So if two different performers preformed the same song, you'll see
misheard lyrics for both on the same page (provided the song title was spelt the same both times, and
misheard lyrics have been submitted for both!).

Maybe I should powder my moose.
Maybe I should patent my moves.
The Story: At first, I wondered if "moose" was slang for something, perhaps like "moose knuckle," the male version of the camel toe, but then I realized that even if it was, "powdering his moose" would have very little to do with being cool, and wouldn't make sense in context with the next line "Sell 'em for a dollar or two." - Submitted by: CatLadyDX

Mandy always laughs at Star Wars people
Never really wanna be on newsstands
And fairytales are never wasted time.
Mandy always laughs when I act stupid
I am unaware that I'm a nuisance
With her it's never wasted time
The Story: In my defense, when I first heard this it was on the radio and it had really bad reception, so this is what I first heard and sung for quite awhile until I heard the correct lyrics listening to the song online years later. - Submitted by: Eric

So, what a man gotta do?
What a man gotta do?
To be totally knocked up by you
What a man gotta do?
What a man gotta prove?
To be totally knocked up by you
So, what a man gotta do?
What a man gotta do?
To be totally locked up by you
What a man gotta do?
What a man gotta prove?
To be totally locked up by you

He said I've been to the year 3000
Not much has changed but there was no water
And your great great great granddaughter is way fine
He said I've been to the year 3000
Not much has changed but they lived underwater
And your great great great granddaughter is doing fine, doing fine

The Story: I'm British, but they're both American. On the Busted version, I heard the original lyrics straight away. But in The Jonas Bros (lool Mario Twist) version, I mishear it. - Submitted by: Jaz
